Captions are a super important part of any streaming service, and knowing how to enable or disable them is a worthwhile skill.

These guys make it look so easy but I still can't figure it out lol I can find the subtitles and it tells me all the language's it will do but there's nothing to turn them on or off

Just some more info to muddy the conversation. I wanted to get rid of captioning that I couldn’t get rid of during TNF. I called Amazon CS and they really helped me. My streaming device is Apple TV and the Pause button on the remote got me to where I could turn off the captioning. Who knew?? It worked.

i've got a roommate who is learning english...really having a hard time finding spanish subtitles on amazon. netflix is fine but amazon is nearly impossible. any suggestions?

The problem is, you can't actually turn off closed captioning, as it's automatically forced with subtitles. This means you have to put up with literally EVERYTHING having subtitles, including voices in your native language, and any other random sounds CC narrates via text. I find this ridiculous that a multi billion dollar company like Amazon is too cheap to offer subtitles for foreign language only. Worse yet, the delivery service you get with Prime is actually worse by far than any delivery service you don't have to pay a monthly subscription for. Their drivers are so lazy they will leave packages out in the open instead of bringing them to your apt door, and when you talk to them about it, they just laugh like they don't care.

Differentiate between subtitles and closed captioning? If I search only subtitles, aren't I asking for ONLY spoken foreign language movies? One of us hears, the other doesn't. The one who can hear wants to watch spoken English feature presentations, often. TY!!

The service is dreadful. In Apple TV the app seems to confuse CC with subtitles. They are two different things, but Prime Video seems not to notice it

Subtitles are in black text not the white text which are easier to read. How do I change them back?

I have a smart TV with the Prime Video app on the remote. Closed captioning is turned off with the remote but is on whenever I view Prime - and not when I watch cable or Netflix or anything else. I haven't found any way to control it via my account on my computer or on the Prime homepage on the TV. Can anyone help????

this didn't work. the left menu didn't pop up and menu on the left had no option for closed captioning. thanks anyway
