Thanks a lot. I was able to reuse the USB-SATA bridge and enclosure just by replacing the HDD (that had gone bad because of aging)

Thankyou so much ! needed to know if it has sata on the inside. Some of the WD passports are just USB off the drive.

Mine is a 4tb that stopped being recognize by my PC. I'm pretty sure it's just the usb-sata connector gone bad. It's good to know that I can just take it out and find out. Won't be as practical but I do have a usb-sata cable so I'll be able to take all the data out if it's indeed alright. IT SHOULD BE since it barely got any use during the 2 years since I've bought it. I mainly used it for backup that's it.

At least it is a proper SATA hard drives unlike those Toshiba external hard drives which have a USB interface but no SATA interface.
