These cumin flavoured freshly baked biscuits are a great companion for your evening tea of coffee. Do try !

JEERA BISCUITS

Ingredients

¾ teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
1¾ cups whole wheat flour
100 grams butter
½ cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
4 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons milk

Method

1. Preheat oven at 180ºC. Place a butter paper on a baking tray.
2. Cream together butter and sugar in a bowl till light and fluffy.
3. Sift together wheat flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda into the bowl. Add cumin seeds and mix till the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
4. Add milk, mix and knead into a soft dough.
5. Dust the worktop with some refined flour and put the dough on it. Roll out into a thick sheet and cut out roundels using a medium size serrated cookie cutter. Discard the excess dough and place the cookies on the butter paper.
6. Put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven and cool.
7. Serve or store in airtight container.

NOT a good recipe. I followed everything carefully, still the cookies are hard, nor crumbly and soft to take a bite.
