I Am Allergic To Everything

A rare disorder has made a young woman allergic to everything - including her own tears, growing hair and even exercise. Natasha Coates, from Nottingham, has an immunological disorder called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), which causes severe allergic-like symptoms due to the mast cells over-responding to a trigger such as food or weather. Natasha has allergic reactions to her own tears, growing her hair, changes in the weather, many foods and the process of digestion. Her hair can cause her scalp to blister and certain foods could kill her, but despite all this Natasha has become an elite disability gymnast.

My old English teacher's sister is allergic to practically everything aswell, she lives in a remote house, no unnatural products, her floor is made of polished dirt and she's a quantum physicist. That's just insane

As someone who lives with MCAS, the reactions never stop. Some people are saying “she’s wearing clothes” etc. The reactions are very spontaneous and you can be fine with something one day, and have a reaction the next. I have had allergic reactions to clothes and literally everything you can think of, even my own tears. I’m able to go through life because I’m on a crazy amount of medications, called mast cell inhibitors, that shut off your mast cells and immune system. So please don’t be so quick to judge, saying that she wearing clothes and such, because it is an invisible illness, and it helps when people are understanding about it. Sorry about my rant😅.

She is very right about saying that you cant see pain, my mum (who has chronic pain in her teeth) flew for a long time to go see a doctor but all she was told was ""Well your here, you look fine, you have makeup on I think your fine"

Why is nobody talking about how supportive the mom is, adapting the situation for all the daughter's allergies?

Edit: Everyone is saying that it's because she should be responsible because she's a mom. But she does so much, supports her so much, and probably herself suffers the painful thoughts of _what if._ She probably also spent quite a bit of time removing things from the house that causes reactions. It must be hard to cross numerous food options off the list, because one of those foods could've been her favourite.
Sure, she's a mom and should immediately do all of this for her daughter's well being. But that doesn't mean it would be easy.

Edit 2: Okay I tried to prevent it but I believe there is a war in the replies. Fun!

Poor girl, no one, not a single soul deserves to go through this.

It would be tough to even live peacefully with such a disorder and she dared to become a gymnast, and gymnastics is one of the most challenging things to do ever..I salute her spirit 🙌

Some of the comments on this video are disheartening, you people are missing the point. With MCAS, it is your own body you are allergic to, as she explained at 0:35 and 1:48.

A normal person can eat certain foods and exercise and they will have no reaction, or a small reaction but your body can handle it better. A person with MCAS, does these seemingly normal things and their body releases way too much histamine making them have severe allergic reactions. Sometimes they just wake up feeling ill and it's a debilitating disorder that really needs to be recognized more.

The allergic reaction is not always itchy eyes, watery nose, hives, etc. Sometimes it feels like flu-like symptoms; dizzy, nauseous, shakey, heart-palpitations, syncope, increased sweat, throat tightness, chest tightness, stomach cramps, diarrhea, migraines, the list goes on.
