Great guitars, both of them. I own the sg tribute and love everything about it. And I recently had the chance to play a les paul tribute at Chicago Music Exchange. It felt and played incredible. It was my favorite axe in the store, and I preferred it to all of the other "nicer" ones by far.

I usually prefer les paul tones, but sg's feel better for me ergonomically, so I go with those!

Both are keepers. I appreciate your videos and hearing the comparisons.

I have a LP Tribute. Its a great guitar. Love it. Ive tried a handful of SGs through the years and Ive never been able to bond with one. It just feels weird. Im an Explorer guy to my very core...thats probably why me and SG dont jive. That said, SGs are still great guitars.

They do sound a little different, i really liked both of them. But, if i could only have one, I'd go with the LP. So I did. I bought a 2021 Iced Tea about a year and a half ago and I love it. Feels and plays great. I was uncertain about the maple neck but it's the most stable new guitar I've owned. I like the weight relief, I like the resonance. Mine weighs 7 lb 11 oz. Exactly what my 2018 SG Standard did.

It's been a few months but if you read this, what did you think of the neck join on the SG? I know Gibson has used this on other SGs but I've never played one.

i have both and i both love them. my sg fortunately didnt have neckdive but you could put on a heavy tailpiece to combat neckdive.
I also put in some A5 magnets in the sg pickups to give it a bit more bite and treble, mine was a bit dark sounding with the A2 in the pickups.

both guitars sound equally fantastic! I own a 2008 GIbson SG standard and not a bad little guitar. My dad had a Gibson Les Paul replica from either the 70's/80's? That was my first guitar I had to play on before I could get money saved up for my own first guitar which was a Jackson King V STD from 94! Back to the Gibson Les Paul I hated that guitar because it was not 'metal' enough for me and installed a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and it did improve the sound. I kinda wish I had it so I can still compare now to my better guitars I have and amps. Great shoot out.

They have the same hardware. The only difference is their shape. I'm not big on tone wood.
