Makes sense, will have to try it. When I worked in engineering for a marine manufacturer, we would have to be careful or compensate for water absorbtion of some plastic bushings, so yes, some plastics do absorb water.

I heard this from my girlfriend and told her she was crazy 30 years of weedeating never heard of such a thing. You learn something new everyday apparently.

Cut a hole in the lid of the bucket with water in it put your string through the hole just big enough where the line doesn’t fall in the bucket works great

Grabbed some Echo String from my mom's house. No telling how long it’s been in the garage. So I am soaking it when I get home. Maybe 2-5 days.

I like the tip below where u store it afterwards in a Ziploc bag to retain moisture. Gonna do this.

This works for anything nylon. If you ever bought quality nylon zip ties you'll notice the sealed bag they come in has moisture/water in them to keep them flexible until custumer gets them.

It works for me, used to use a whole(small) reel in 10 minutes, but now, it lasts for ages.

This does work, the line only absorbs a tiny amount of water but it's enough to rehydrate the line and make it last longer. I soak mine about once a year

I replaced the excellent Stihl line on my trimmer today with some from an unused spool of Black Diamond that I have had for probably 5 years or more. The Stihl held up amazingly well cutting very heavy weeds. The Black Diamond didn’t last at all trimming low grass in my yard, wore very quickly and seemed brittle. It has never been in water. I’ll soak the spool tomorrow and see if it improves. I was real disappointed in it today and was going to the Stihl dealer tomorrow for more of their line.

This is the whole reason why I use discarded monofilament fishing lines off long line fishing boats. Nominal thickness of between 2.4mm and 2.7mm. The discarded lines are usually the ones that sharks messed up underwater- sometimes getting the lines wound around the propellor! Hands down the most reliable and supple lines to use. What's more, I get them free by the sack full. Only price I pay is having to unravel the tangled lines and cutting them to suitable length for spooling. Off cuts are treasured as well unless too short for use!

Wearing short knee length pants is the way to go like you have on if the trimmer kicks up a stone and it strikes your knee . Soaking the knee in water for 24 hours will surely help it recover.

I just tried it with old motor oil. This worked great with my Weed Trimmer strings. Got tired of stopping and replacing saw your video and just damp a rag with oil and past it on them and they last me very long.

I like the Black Diamond line. I cut bamboo branches with ease.

I have heard you can take old line that has sat in the sun and do that and it will bring it back to life.

So are we supposed to leave it in water all the time and take out as much as needed when loading the trimmer?

What are the main reasons that we tremble line Wells itself in the school which then causes it to stop feeding when you bump
