The chances of Russia using nuclear fire power is really quite low. Both Russia and the US signed a NEW START Treaty back in 2011. - The New START Treaty, struck in 2011, obliged the United States and Russia to limit deployed intercontinental ballistic missiles, deployed submarine-launched ballistic missiles and deployed heavy bombers equipped for nuclear armaments.

It also put limits on nuclear warheads on those deployed missiles and bombers and the launchers for those missiles. Both sides reached the central limits of the Treaty by Feb. 5, 2018 and the Treaty has been extended to the end of Feb. 4, 2026.

So if Russia uses any nuclear weapons against Ukraine, the US and its Allies who have nuclear weapons can retaliate against Russia which will make Putin the under dog as Russian cities and territories would be affected. Putin doesn't want that to happen. So Ukraine should feel some relief at least.

Would you advise digging a nuclear bunker Sarah, or is the risk not great enough

How can Ukraine win by only defending! The world is at risk of nuclear catastrophe, we must recognize this, sooner the better!
