Just a heads up, this process is completely different in Blender - I haven't had time to do a lot of extensive tests yet, but I do know that even if you import the FBX directly into Blender from Unreal, the rig falls apart and is broken when you re-export it back to Unreal - I know there are add-ons that can export it correctly, but I''d like to find a way to export the rig intact to Unreal without the relying on 3rd party addons if possible. I'll keep you guys posted when I learn more about Blender to Unreal in future vids -

If you right click on the asset you want to export, you will see an option called asset actions. In that sub-menu, you can export the mesh. This is an easier method because it exports the mesh with all the default values; instead of having to zero out the mesh every time. Also, if you select multiple assets, it gives you the option to bulk export. It is very handy especially for exporting an animation pack, for example.

you solved a problem i was having that made me scrap my original skeleton and start over. i now know my mistake on the last rig was, i rotated the bones, and was most likely the reason i was experiencing mesh deformities lol. thank you for the great vids!

Random note. Maya and unreal work together well because Epic chose to use Maya as the template form which to build from. This started back in the UE2-2.5ish days. The control scheme even used to be identical with a 3 button mouse. That is, If I remember correctly it has been close to 30 years at this point.

It’d be cool if you also cover IK feet systems at any point in the future 😊

How did you get the rig to manipulate mirrored like that? Doesn't want to work on my side in Maya. I have tried turning on all the mirror tools available default in the software.
