I am so glad I found this video. All this time on my Mac I was listening to Apple Music with my wired Apple EarPods and thought I was listening to "lossless". Wrong! I had the "high quality aac" selected 🤦🏾‍♂ As soon as I changed per your instructions I could hear the different and I can see the lossless icon next to the song title/artist - WOW! I will subscribe and begin to watch other videos of yours because I want to learn more and have questions to ask. Thank you!

Is this option? I knew available if you have a subscription to the music service?

Hi Jeff,
Thank you for this simple way to get started in to Lossless Music!
Quick question: I have a Yamaha A-S801 Integrated Amp with a (from what I've read) a very good built in DAC. Would I still have to get an external DAC or would I be able to plug directly in with my iPhone 13?

Thanks!

Hi Mate, thank you so much for the video. I'm not sure if you're still there. I do hope that you receive this message. When opening iTunes on. Macos Sequoia 15.1.1 connected externally to a DAC Nad 3045. But this option is not showing on iTunes. Is there a reason for this? Do you know? It's driving me round the bend.

Hi Jeff, I watched your video. I have reset the ref DAC Sample Rate on my Mac Book pro. My Xavians sound Awesome now. Now for Headphones(Hifiman Ananda), I pare my iPhone13(SE) with the XDo5 Ball via Bluetooth. Ive got the USB option cables too which I prefer to use but the iPhone SE doesn't recognise the DAC in USB mode. What am I doing wrong? please guide me.

Hi Jeff, I want to connect my iPhone 8 Plus to a Marshall Stanmore speaker with a frequency response 45Hz-22Khz. Wil I be able to listen hi-res lossless (24bits / 192Khz)?
Thanks

I have an Iphone XS and several dongle DAC/Amps to go along with it and many open back and closed back headphones with not too high of an impedance and I'm never happy with the music coming out of the phone with my headphones which are the Sennheiser 598, 599, 560's, 569's and many others by different companies, it's never clear and sounds compressed, I'm not an Apple music subscriber but have my Itunes music synced up to my Iphone XS and under audio there is no option for me to select 24 bit 96KHZ or higher which I know my DAC's can do and would like an Lossless audio option for my synced music, may I ask why Apple doesn't have this option under their phones or if they do are they only for Apple music subscribers, I can't understand why I cannot choose my bit depth and sample rate.

Question to Jeff or anyone with answers: Can I connect a DAC that is connected to my Macbook Pro or my Dell XPS Laptop to an audio Mixer? I had used a creative sound blaster external sound card in the past in the way described above. However, three of my audio mixers started sounding bad after a year and/or 18 months of use.

Do you think I can get hi-res audio with my iPhone/iPad connected to my AVR via HDMI with a lightning HDMI adapter?

hi, some albums in apple music don't have lossless branding. For example August by Eric Clapton or Savage Amusement by the Scorpions! And surely there will be others! Is Apple sleeping?

Didn't you forget the midi settings on the Mac? The Mac will always send the chosen bits and kHz that is chosen in the midi app. So a low quality song will be upsampled when put the midi to 32 bits 192khz. This way you won't have the best audio quality. The is no auto switching on the Mac. The iPhone and the iPad do not have this problem.
