I recommend using a men’s razor also. They give you a closer shave and the blades are stronger so they handle coarse hair with no problems.

My skin was sooo sensitive that I ended up switching to a men's electric razor, ive never knicked myself with it and I can use it wet as well, my skin has improved so much and I haven't had an ingrown since I switch, its my favorite purchase

I typically shave while my conditioner is setting in my hair. This helps with giving the skin time to absorb water through shampoo stage and such, and gives time for the conditioner to do its work. I haven’t had much luck with shaving creams (sensitive skin) but I’ve discovered a good natural soap that lathers nicely and has actually worked well with shaving too. For the lotion I tend to have good luck with Neutrogena Hyralunic (sp?) body balm.

Honestly, I'm fine with not having baby smooth shaved skin. I shave once a month, just to keep everything under control. Trimming is more than enough too.

i switched to a safety razor last year and its been A GAME CHANGER, the amount of irritation, ingrown hairs drastically decreased. also using a body scrub really helped with ingrown hairs too

Thanks for the advice my mom refused to teach her daughters to shave anything but our arm pit and even then she let us figure it. She thinks shaving makes the hair grow in thicker so we where never allowed to shave our legs. As adult I just just go any direction to get the hair off

Thank you for your advice. It became clear to me that I've always been shaving wrong. Now, my skin and feeling after shaving will hopefully improve.

I shave against the grain because it gives the closest shave with the least number of passes, so I find it to overall be less irritating and less likely for me to get razor burn/cut myself (plus using a really moisturizing shave cream like Cremo, and the only razor I've found that gives a really close shave is the Suave Hydro Silk (it's even better than the men's razors I've tried!)). Personally I shave then immediately exfoliate with a sugar scrub and don't feel any irritation (doing in the reverse order burns so much)! It really helps reduce ingrown hairs for me. Also moisturizing every day until my next shave helps keeps the hair a tad less "rough/prickly" feeling to help minimize irritation.

COCONUT OIL!!
i used to always get some kind of irritation after shaving until i started using coconut oil after getting out of the shower. idk what it does but i use it straight up after drying off, and then i go in after giving it a minute or 2 to soak in with my usual body moisturizer. i noticed a huge difference and i almost never get any kind of irritation after i shave if i use coconut oil (for extra hydration i mix in a vitamin E oil blend with my body lotion. this is great even when i don't shave)
EDIT! I now only use vitamin e oil. its from trader joes and its amazing. I use it everyday in my skincare and all over my body when I shave. love it. highly recommend

I also have a video on *LASER HAIR REMOVAL* (if you are interested)
*Which products are you using that help your shaving routine??* How is it possible that shaving seems so easy but then so many of us experience shaving related skin issues. Of course there are several alternatives for hair removal but shaving is still up there with one of the most popular methods of hair removal especially if you are short of time and on the go.😉 Feel free to share what works for you.

Good tips, I also recommend using organic coconut oil after shaving as a moisturizer and anti-inflammator.
