4000 gallons of water? The johnstown flood was a heck of alot bigger than that. Also that's pretty good footage considering in the 1880s the wasn't motion pictures or automobiles or airplanes to get aerial footage. The real pictures of the disaster are actually worth using. Shame

I remember Hurricane Hugo back in 1989, I was 6, in 1* grade in Baltimore, Maryland and they sent us home from school early the day it made landfall

My great gramma's dad, his twin, and their sister survived the Johnstown flood! They climbed up the highest hill, which now stands a cable car transportation attraction. These vehicles are still active transportation for full sized cars! A standard 4 door car can fit inside the cable vehicle and can transport back and forth intermittently.

At about 2:22, the statement is made, "Almost 4000 gallons of water rushed towards Jamestown."
Uh....you might gallons is about a truck a thimblefull when compared to the actual amount of water which destroyed the city.

Is 4000 gallons of water REALLY a lot?
An average Olympic swimming pool holds 660, 000 gallons
(and my bath holds 42 gallons), I think that first PA video needs correcting. ;)

The Johnstown flood released a lot more than 4, 000 gallons of water. The dam ruptured after several days of extremely heavy rainfall, releasing 14.55 million cubic meters of water.

I started laughing when My hometown was the first one to pop up. Our city is unknown until you learn about the three floods.

Every time I click on this channel I'm reminded of the mistake I made allowing it to continue in my feed. 5.5 minutes before actual footage, and precious little afterwards. Could've made this video 2 minutes and lost nothing.
