How to choose u in u-substitution - Integration by Substitution Choosing u | Jake's Math Lessons

Figuring out what to make your u when you are doing a u-substitution problem or integration by substitution, can be the hardest part those problems sometimes.
I know when I was first learning how to do u-substitution, that was the thing that I had the hardest time really getting down and feeling comfortable with things how to select your u.

Recently in one of my weekly live streams which I am doing every Monday night at 5 o'clock Pacific, I took this u substitution example and I really talked a lot about what thought process I go through and what thought process you can go through also to really make selecting your u in u-substitution problems much much easier.

So if selecting your u is something that you really want some help on, be sure to stick around to the end of the video and I'm sure this will really help make that process a lot easier for you.
So without further ado let's go ahead and jump right into the example.

Now lets find or choose u here.
Watch the video till the end and I hope you will understand how to solve such problems.
