100% agree. Being humble and uncertain in the world is not a flaw or shortcoming and the best /most intelligent folks are able to admit that they don't know everything. The dumbest people out there are almost always the most certain.

Teach your kids to love learning and never stop, they'll go far...

You don't need to INSTILL a sense of curiosity in a child, that comes with them already. You need to allow the child to REMAIN curious, even when it's bugging you with the most annoying or overwhelming questions. What kills curiosity in children is when they get harsh or inappropriate responses from the people they look up to (mostly parents).

I completely agree with what he said (I have an 11 year old son). The only thing I would add, which many adults still are lacking is the ability to use critical thinking. Don't just take things people tell you about life or the world as gospel. Look into things, get different opinions, etc. I also remind my son that nobody knows everything, nobody is perfect and we all do things wrong/do wrong things at times. What matters is that we own up to our mistakes and misdeeds and do our very best to grow past them. There are so very many belief systems and differences of opinion. What truly matters is whether a person and their beliefs/opinions are doing harm to others. Any opinion held that reduces the value of other humans is inherently invalid.

I think Jordan is the heir apparent to take the reins of The Daily Show.

That's some fantastic advice. Sad there are so many adults who need to hear it.

I love Jordan! He's so right, I love that. Curiosity is a huge thing for me as a science nerd, and I never thought to apply that also to politics and just how we relate to others and such.

Teach your children critical thinking and empathy, then watch them grow up and change the world.

Jordan is a gem. How beautifully and eloquently has he put this. He has got the substance, intellect, instinctive humour & delivery in the levels of Jon & Trevor. Make him the permanent host already (for the remaining 4 days).

This was really really excellent! One other thing that's really important IMHO is to know how to research things beyond just "googling it". One needs to have a certain amount of logic, empathy, and eventually experience. These days, neutral sources of information are also highly important, along with the patience to go through it all instead of allowing the right or left wing media feed you what you should think.

Teach you kids to love learning, and always take time to research what they are told as they get older. They have to feel free to listen to different perspectives, but should always be open to looking other perspectives on the same topic. This will give them a chance to make an informed decision.

Thank you for encouraging curiosity!!! If I may add, as your son grows introduce basic components of our political/judicial system. Take them to DC, keep a healthy diverse social circle, give them lots of kid friendly reference books on American politics. Make sure they know their Representative. So many people don’t understand the mechanics of our political system

When are we going to let him be the host or get a real host? Of the correspondents they have on now, he's the only one I could stand listening to on a nightly basis.

😂 Great words of wisdom 😂 I was blessed to have my children before the WWW Internet.
My children are suffering with their children on the internet 😢

I have a 13 and a 15 year old, and I tell them that the powers that be are counting on the youth to be apathetic, so they can be ignored. I say I don't want to push you on any particular topic, but I encourage you to find something about the world around you that is patently unfair that you are passionate about changing, and get involved.

*Never forget about what you don't know!*
People are way too certain of their ideas, they don't question it enough, especially on the extremists sides it's all about confirmation bias.
Often times when I'm talking I'm pretty sure what I'm saying is factual, but I almost always double check it later to make sure I didn't say something wrong or mixed up data/numbers (depending on the conversation and people involved).
Always been a curious since I was a kid, thirst for knowledge and to know more about everything, that did help a lot XP
If there's one thing people need more of, is curiosity and the humility to admit when they are wrong.

I don't know why admitting "I don't know" is something that's so stigmatized and/or difficult for us to do. I don't know most things. I only know some things about a tiny amount of stuff.

Jordan Klepper, imo, is the only one who has his own real voice, and something unique he wants to say, and in that sense is the only one who could fill Stewart's shoes.

K-dog for host
