2025 Honda Civic Si review by The Straight Pipes. The 25 Civic Si is putting down 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque from a 1.5L Turbo 4 cylinder. At $35,800 CAD, would you take it over the GTI or GLI I guess, do they even have a manual?

I’ve had my 2023 Si for just shy of two years and highly recommend it to anyone shopping the segment. Its biggest strengths are its inputs, practicality, affordability, and overall packaging. The shifter is positive, the clutch is friendly and as non-fatiguing as could be, the steering is weighted nicely, accurate, and has a nice ratio (with minimal feel, but nothing that disappoints you on a backroad), and the brakes are intuitively calibrated if a little on the squishy side. The fixed suspension is also very wisely tuned from the factory to provide a ride that’s stiff and confidence inspiring without being uncomfortable.

The fuel economy is excellent. I drive spiritedly all of the time and average 29mpg. If I drive it like a normal person, low-mid 30s are completely typical, and hypermiling would put it easily in the upper 30s.

The 11th Gen Civic packaging is brilliant. Very practical, very user-friendly, and very spacious. The materials are satisfactory for the price. The sound system is satisfactory, if lacking clarity in the highs and more dynamic bass ranges.

Its biggest flaws are its poor sound insulation, rev hang, and overall engine output. General NVH and tire roar are bad, even for the economy sedan segment. Aftermarket insulation won’t fix this, but changing out the stock, low rolling-resistance A/S rubber will at least significantly reduce tire roar.

As far as power and rev hang, there are two common tuning devices and two common canned flash providers which are popular in the community, all of which “fix” these issues. Your tuners are Hondata and KTuner; Hondata seems to be the go-to for the Type-R crowd and the KT for the Si. I went with the KTuner. The two most popular flashes are from Phearable (the 1.5) and TSP “Stage 1.”

I’ve been running a KTuner + TSP combo for 90% of my ownership and HIGHLY recommend it. Can switch between three maps on the fly (#1 stock ~17psi, #2 20psi, #3 25psi) and virtually eliminates rev hang. The power in map 3 is legitimately satisfactory with claims of ~260hp at the crank without any other supporting mods.

It’s a great car for anyone wanting a reliable, practical, affordable, daily driver that can put a smile on their face at legal speeds.

I’ve owned *fun* fun cars, like a GT350, and this satiates my need to row gears while grabbing groceries while still having Tardis packaging and not needing to fill up every three days.

Honda - The Si should definitely be offered as a hatch. The original Si was introduced as a hatch in 1986 and remained as a hatch only until 2007 when a sedan version was offered. Hatchbacks offer so much more versatility (and coolness) than a sedan. Keep it as a 4 door hatch though. Please.

2 door Hatchback SI is definitely needed. Would settle for 4 door hatch... as long as it's still manual

I have owned a 1984 Honda CRX, 1986 Civic SI, 1989 Civic SI, and a 1992 Civic SI. They all were Hatchbacks. Bring back the Civic Hatchback you very

I wish this came with a 2.0L naturally aspirated VTEC instead of a 1.5L turbo

Yes to a hatch, bump in power and proper hand brake! Really like the physical climate buttons (thanks Honda!) and Honda’s offer a great ownership experience! Great review guys!

Man that front bumper looks soooo good with the refresh.

Perfect amount of aggressive and sporty without being over styled.

Si 2-door manual. You get the hatch for free, and it looks great!.

Yes on the civic Si hatch. No clue why they moved away from it. I had an 89 and 91 and loved those cars.

I bought a 2024 Sport 2.0 hatch with the 6spd manual. If the Si would have come with the 2.0 I would have bought it. Honestly after driving the 2 cars the hatch was the clear winner. Linear power (yes it should have more HP but it’s more than adequate) and more space in the hatch. I can get 40mpg on the highway and 36mpg in the city, if I’m not focused on fuel economy in the city I still get 30mpg. These new civics are incredible

In Southern California, dealers are still marking these up by $5k+ (if you can find one). Integra A-spec 6MT can be found at or below MSRP, and they are readily available. Local market economics are often making the Civic SI more expensive than the nicer Integra.

You had me with the manual transmission. Everything else is just icing.

Ordered one in Urban Grey (the new Si colour). I like the new darker tails. Wish there was a manual hand brake. Maybe a little something extra to make it look different too.

Thanks for the honest review! ... I'm 68 and have a white 25 SI on order .. I picked the SI over the TYPE-R because at my age it;s more mature (less boy-racer) ... I really don't need a zillion HP and the SI is kinda a throwback to the way cars once were . also note my first new Honda purchased was a 76 Honda CVCC Civic 5-Speed way before there ever was the SI ...Honda makes a quality product that isn't "weird" ... there are plenty of faster cars but I'm ok with that ... If I wanted primarily speed I would've opted for the Mustang with 6MT but MPG??? is certainly better with the Honda ... Keith Algonquin IL
