It also works on skeletons. If you drop a sword near a skeleton it has a chance of picking it up and you can get the bow but it will have a melee attack though.

I just got an idea-
If we set up a redstone clock to constantly drop Nautilus shells in the kill chamber of a drowned farm, not only would we get each shell back for reuse, we would get the tridents as well, making the farm about 100 times more efficient than a looting 3 one.

I can confirm this works the problem is not dying while you try to get him to pick it up. I have also seen when the drowned will pick up the shell but not the trident so he has both in his hands. If you kill him he tends to drop them both in those cases.

Tip: Gamerule mobgriefing must be true to make this work, and the unharmed trident will only drop if you can trade without the drowned attacking you, else the durability is random

This will help me when I make some of the other bedrock farms that require trident killers. I usually just kill trident drowns when I see them because they aren’t as hard to kill as they may seem, you just need a shield, not even that if you are careful. That is why I always have so many tridents but now I will have even more!
