Landing my first job in private sector, I used to beat myself up not being able to get into big 4s and felt like a failure... But after finding out how much $ my big 4s friends made and the long hours they have to work, i was like mehhh, no thanks. My starting salary in private sector was $10k more than big 4s new grads’. Also, I have a great work-life balance, learned so many things, and got so many great opportunities. 4 years after graduating, I was able to make 6 figures, quicker than my public accounting friends, and still work less hours than they do. Words to accounting grads out there - if you get into big 4s, great! If not, it is not the only way to success (dont let anyone in school brainwash you w that idea).

I work in one of the Big4s too and I am burnt out as an external auditor. I think my daily conversations with my colleague include at least "I REALLY WANNA RESIGN" once a day 😂I can totally relate on the breakdown - had at least 3 for the past 2 weeks.

This was exactly what I needed. I was feeling lost and everyone was only recommending Big4's but they never told me this side of the story. Editing on point, Zoe! Love your videos❤️❤️❤️

This is why I switched from accounting to compliance. It’s actually a 9-5 95% of the time. And started making 100k after my 3rd year.

I'm working 15 hours a day in investment banking and I absolutely love my job as an analyst
However I only sleep 4 hours a day which isn't ideal and should be sorted

The grind that u get squeezes u but it also makes u harder... a big 4 veteren here... my longest working hours were on a listed client where in finalization days i started at 9 AM one day... slept in client office for 30 minutes at night and worked till next days 7 PM untill my mind just shut off....

It’s good experience in the beginning and you get to learn a lot. But soon you realize public accounting is a soul sucking career.

I interviewed with Arthur Anderson (way before Enron). At lunch, the guy showing me around leaned over & said "No offense, but I'd rather be interviewing her" & he nodded his head toward a waitress
Then I said something about wearing jeans to the company picnic & he said "oh no! You never wear jeans even at home! You never know when a client is around!"
So my letter saying "Don't bother considering me any longer" crossed in the mail with their letter "We are no longer considering you"

Both my parents work at big four firms and I just realised how much they go through every single day, so I’m thankful that I watched this I’m never becoming an accountant 😅

All the research I’ve done on big 4, has given me enough stress and fear to know that I will never walk into a big 4 office. No amount of money or prestige is worth all the mental and physical deterioration.

I have finally found my YouTube role model! I am a freshman accounting student and I too plan everything, don’t procrastinate, and don’t study past 12am! I hope to be as successful as you one day <3

I had an early existential crisis when I was in college because of accounting. That’s also the time I got addicted to coffee. With how hard you need to work to get your license, you’d expect a better life after getting it but nah. Almost everyone in my batch shifted to different jobs after working in a firm for about 3 years. Some transferred to private companies cos the pay is better. Some pursued Law. Some went to culinary or pilot school. Some opened up a business.

So true. Haha. I used to work for a Big 4 firm and remember working for multiple clients to the point that I don't know where to take my body anymore. 😢 It was a relief leaving but tbh, it was also a life changing experience. I learned a lot in my four year stay and it developed me both professionally and personally. While I'm grateful for the experience, I'd definitely never return. 🤣

Hi, I stumbled across your channel accidently through the algorithm but this video is exactly what I needed to reaffirm my beliefs of the Big 4 and IT service sector. I have personally faced all the challenges that you mentioned in my 2 years at LTI as a IT engineer and I can concur to that 100%. Besides your working preferences is nearly as similar to mine which makes it very difficult to survive and stay content with the job in such service industry with really toxic work environments where client ass-kissing is the norm and they literally pay peanuts .There is no peace of mind in these sort of companies even if the pay is good. As Paulo Coelho says "Any thing that costs you your peace is too expensive" and since the day I resigned from the company I have regained my freedom back and haven't felt an ounce of regret .It was the best decision I made and the beautiful smile is back on my face :)Many Thanks for the video .Peace!
