Fassbender was perfect casting for young Magneto, also it's amazing how he was involved in two of the greatest scenes ever to take place in a bar

"They didn't have a name. It was taken from them by pig farmers and tailors." Just the sheet tension in the writing in this scene is incredible.

Erik's smooth transition from speaking Spanish to German is so underrated.

The music in this scene is amazing. I love how it increasingly becomes more and more villainous, going from brooding to downright menacing.

Don’t get me wrong Ian Mckellen was amazing as the older Magneto, but Michael Fassbender was something else entirely as the younger version of the character. He made him scarier, someone you would have NOT wanted to mess with when he was in his prime.

"Blood and honor...which would you care to shed first?"
"We were under order..."
"Blood then "
That tension....amazing scene ! Fassbender is so charismatique .

the fact that Michael is a German in real life makes this scene even more badass

I genuinely believe this to be a top 3 comic book movie scene that isn’t action. And maybe top 5 that is. There’s so much to break down in just this one scene. An homage to Clint Eastwood westerns with the close up on the eyes before the guns draw, the tension building in a pub that flips the inglorious basterds scene on its head. The gradual camera moves from wide angles where everyone is far apart to the close ups as the tension builds. The score building to an epic villain theme. The fan above Eric spinning while the other one isn’t to subliminally draw are attention to his side of the screen and create the illusion that something is spinning around him while the others are stagnant. The way the entire frame of the camera is always being used and there is zero wasted space. All for a cherry on top one liner that feels right out of a comic book in the best possible way.

I think I'd be happy to see a period movie consisting solely of Magneto traveling the world, hunting down and executing fugitive Nazis. With occasional walk-ons from other Marvel characters, to be sure, but essentially: 2 hours of Erik Lehnsherr on a Mission. And I'd enthusiastically applaud every scene of on-screen justice.

Everything about this scene is perfect:
-Michael's acting
-The dialogue
-The rising tension
-The looks of fear on the Germans' faces
-Magneto's theme song

Just chef's kiss

“By pig farmers… and tailors.” That was amazing

I love how much Erik is loving this, he is soaking up this revenge like a fantasy he's played in his head thousands of times.

I love the subtle detail of the "pig farmer" moving the beer glass from right hand to left, as he's realising somethig is off and is getting ready for trouble.

I absolutely love the confidence, power, and aggression he shows here. Exactly as you would imagine a young Magneto would be. That first disarm he did with the knife and then pausing to speak cemented this as one of the best scenes of revenge in my mind. Seeing this originally in IMAX cinema was insane

Magneto has always been my favorite villain. To see Sir Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender bring him to life has made my childhood complete.

The moment they spoke while he was backfacing them and his focused, sharp eyes, cold-blooded, were in the shot showing him drinking his beer with such rage and disgust is what makes the entire scene outstanding

2:19 That knife throw and catch is the sickest thing in this whole scene!

"Let's just say I'm Frankenstein's monster"

That always gives me chills

"Oh really? What were their name?"
"They didnt have a name. It was taken from them...by pig farmers...and tailors".
That line was so well done, just brings chills every time I watch this scene. This whole bar bit is probably one of the best scenes in any movie.

Fassbender speaks Spanish here with a Castilian accent; the way he says "cerveza" like "therbetha" instead of "servesa". I know because I'm Spanish myself.

I've always liked that he did that
