Aemond is perhaps the character that the show done best; there is good depth in why he is as he is and the conflicts he got with the rest of the families adds to the story.

Ewan Mitchell has me hooked on is portrayal of Aemond, a lot of changes from the book but still keeps the core intensity. My second favorite character in HOTD (after Daemon) good video in deep geek as always 👌🏿

Gray Area has a really good video about Alys Rivers having a Mirri Maz dur type arc.

In F&B it says Aemond took her as a spoil of war, and as though he was doing her a favour by letting her live after he butchered her family, the household of House Strong and incinerates the Riverlands.

So he kills her family, almost everyone she knows and goes full on scorched earth (pun intended), but takes her into his bed and acts like he's a hero and not a monster for doing so.

To paraphrase Mirri maz dur : when everything of your life is taken away, but your life is "saved", what exactly did you save?

Aemond has been one of my favorite parts of Season 2. His actions during the Battle of Rook's Rest were what fully won me over on the show leaving out Maelor and the scene where he switched to High Valyrian when talking to Aegon during the council meeting was utterly masterful. I love that he is embracing his destiny as an anime villain.

His interaction with Helaena in the finale has me worried, though. Not going to get into book spoilers but there were definitely some alarm bells going off when he came up behind her.

I think even Aemond knew that it wouldn't have been a good look to call himself King when Aegon was still alive. He wasn't the wisest character, but he wasn't stupid.

Deamon was my favorite character in season 1. Aemond is my favorite character in season 2, and it's not even close with either season. If deamon's arc in season 2 is any indication of aemonds arc of season 3, I will sigh in exasperation at the lost potential

Bouncing off your Alyse comments, I imagine then that the implication is, that the children of the forest/the old gods have been cycling through the same genetic mashup for countless generations, even before the death of the dragons. Therefore, whatever power it is that fuels dragon dreams, prophecies, greenseeers, and destinies didn't know precisely when the wall would fall, or the white walkers would come, bringing the long night. It knew that the blood of the first men would need to be combined with both the crown and the Targaryen line because dragons and political power were the only path to victory(?). Practice makes perfect, right? So perhaps Rhaenyra is supposed to be the "prince that was promised" and ended up being just a prototype. The same theory then could potentially be applied to a child born of Alyse Rivers (a witch/greenseer believed to be a member of the house Strong. House Strong, who are one of the families of the First Men), and Aemond Targaryen (a possible King of Westeros.

i really hope we get more lore on aemond and alys’ son because that could explain a lot leading to the ghost of high heart or they could’ve been bloodraven’s teacher.
