Two Behemoths indeed. LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition), vs it's bigger more popular bro - Linux Mint (Standard Cinnamon Edition).

These guys are "same but different". One is based off Ubuntu, the other based off the Debian Distro (considered more stable generally).

...

Also, from time to time check out the other videos on my channel which includes distro release info on: Linux, Ubuntu, Manjaro, MX Linux, Elementary, Endeavour, Pop OS, Debian, Garuda, Fedora, Zorin, Linux Mint, Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Kali Linux, OpenSUSE, Antix, Arch Linux, RHEL, CENTOS, Red Had, MATE Desktop, KDE Desktop, Plasma Desktop, Cinnamon Desktop, Android.

Lmde5 is my new daily driver. Its a piece of cake to boot from the live USB. The installer is a joy to use. It's fast rock solid and stable. Perfection

The kernel is older in Linux Mint Ubuntu because it's based on the now 2-year-old Ubuntu LTS 20.04. LMDE 5 is based on Debian 11, which just came out about 6 months ago. There is a kernel manager in Linux Mint 20.3 if you want to upgrade to a newer kernel.

Weird that the Debian based one isn't showing the Mint logo, but Debian🤔

I want to replace my Window's Vista on my laptop with Linux. Which will work better with an older system, Linux Mint 20.3 or LMDE 5?

Love LMDE. The big question is WHY do some LINUX distros write themselves into the boot menu with an identifying name and OTHERS - just say UBUNTU - or some non descriptive thing ?

Dumb question - does LMDE use apt as well?
