A SAILOR'S NIGHTMARE becomes reality.
Our BACK SHROUD SNAPS, in the MIDDLE OF THE PACIFIC OCEAN.

Part 2 Of Our Pacific Crossing From West To East - 4400 Nautical Miles Against Winds And Currents

Where are we? Out at sea. Alone. No islands, no help around. We need to tackle this alone. Rough seas, someone has to go up in the mast tilting 4m from side to side. How do we solve this possibly life-threatening problem? Our rigging is our life insurance out here at sea.
We face unfavorable winds & up to 3 knot currents, letting us sail circles for weeks being showered from above. Food is getting less & less, diesel almost empty. Then finally, an uninhabited island in sight...After 2 months at sea, accompanied by amazing wildlife encounters.
Enjoy!

This is the most brave and most frightening scene I have seen on a sailing channel, Hut ab to both of you

Legends! I'm impressed how much you keep smiling despite all the curve balls you've been thrown! Ringing failure, 1 week to end up at the same spot, low fuel, etc... Very well edited videos, thanks for sharing your adventures!

I climb trees for a living, they rarely move that much. I go 125 plus feet so it's still a bit spooky. Janna and Ilahn, you both have super respect from Oregon.

What a great episode guys and what an achievement. I bet your patience was tested to the limits. So much respect for that sail. You are my heroes and love the 'amish' look of the captain. Greetings from Kelowna, British Columbia

Brave attitude to solve the problem ... congratulations !!!
I cannot let it pass, as a formative topic that the lifejacket and a connection to a fixed point is key in heavy seas and they cannot lose sight of it.

Looks like a lot of the rigging problems may not have even been discovered with a pre-passage check of it all. Good work at keeping it going.

You two made the impossible possible. Sailing the Pacific from west to east. How did you keep the spirit up? And Janna you are so brave going up that mast in the middle of an ocean. Only deep respect for you two.
