While reading the church history (all 8? volumes) I could almost see him squirming as he tried to figure out what he was going to “reveal” in relation to the temple. Fortunately for him he and his brother stumbled upon Freemasonry and ultimately RAM which he promptly appropriated, modified, and “revealed” as revelation in Nauvoo. 18:38

From what I'm told the freemasonry was the black people. Mason were white. That's coming from a Mason. But what I figured was free meaning no longer slaves. Yes I think it came from Egypt times. If you look at all the groups are all eqyptian things. I think they were the stone masons the builders. They got together as groups. The name may came later but I do think it origin is Egypt.
