I am in my 60's and according to my grandfather Earnest, who was not only a Freemason, but an actual mason as well and was one of those that worked on the reconstruction in the 40's. When I was just a kid, he explained the "Y" in that symbol represented a 3-D... X, Y, Z axis (like a corner in geometry) along with the compass (inverted "V). The 3-D axis and compass combination was supposed to represent the "Corner" Stone itself and the compass represented the Gov'ts ability to take action when needed, but doing it with constraints. In other words.... the whole White House was the cornerstone for our country.... not just one block.... (United We Stand, Divided We Fall). There may have been a single block at some point... but according to gramps, the WHOLE building was the cornerstone for our country. PS.... for the commentator. The White House is not the Presidents house, it's The Peoples house, he/she is just a temporary resident

*Interesting fact:* the original name of the White House was the Presidential Palace until it was given its name by Teddy Roosevelt in 1901.

First it's the Northeast part of the building not the Southeast hence why we seat new EA, s in the Northeast also as I've said earlier the first Whitehouse was destroyed it's very possible the Corner Stone was also or removed. Also a tradition exists for Stone Masons to give their individual Marks on the stones they cut to identify them as such it's very possible that's all those marking represent

Great timing. Another secret corner stone time capsule. Anybody heard anything about the not so secret time capsule cornerstone from the Georgia guide stones that someone decided to blow up to get at. Maybe the plane on 9/11 1997 wanted to try and dislodge the Whitehouse cornerstone and that's why they tried to crash into it. Maybe not but its possible.
