Pleasantly suprised to see hijras being discussed.
The pronunciation is a bit funny though.
Keep up the good work!

TFW you remember transphobes crying decades before transphobes think it started.

When talking to non queer coworkers i always hear them say being trans is new as an excuse for ignorance and it drives me nuts. I think i found a new video to show them

Looks like the whole "Return to tradition" thing don't look to bad anymore seeing these traditions!

I'm so thankful I came across this channel last week--just gives me a lot of hope (and hey, learned a lot of stuff too!)
Particularly love the "brief" videos ;)

Thanks so much for posting content like this and showing that being trans isn't some "new fad, " you're one of my favorite channels here! :)

Trans Culture is not as “Western” as Conservatives want you to believe.

I really liked your video on gay life in the Wild West. I’m fascinated with history and the history of queer people isn’t covered much, I’m here for it.

I remember reading about a trans Roman Emperor, but I would need to do further research to confirm how true this is or isn’t.

"Trans men" existed in ancient cultures, they just took male roles (ie warriors) and believe it or not, warriors are not now, or ever the center of the culture. The spiritual roles are.

In fact, this observation led many 2nd wave Feminist that are the mothers of todays TERFs to claim that ancient trans women were co-opting feminine power in the advent of the Patriarchy. Seriously, look it up. Pre-contemporary TERF literature in the 70s when they were doing what Dead Domain is doing (looking at mythic, and pre-colonial sociological constructions) saw this, but came to a TERFy conclusion to fit their ideology. But that's the point, they didn't deemphasize trans masculines but did call trans femmes appropriators.

The idea of the wakashu makes SO MUCH SENSE from what I've gathered about modern Japanese attitudes, particularly regarding gay men. There seems to be a persistent belief that it's acceptable for young men to have gay relationships, but it's "just a phase", and they'll eventually marry a woman
