I had this exact motorcycle, year, color, everything identical and sold it in June 1980. I have regretted it for 40 years. Every time I think about it or look at old photos of it, I could cry. One of the biggest mistakes of my life.

Am glad the seller said he wouldn’t take a penny less this time instead of Rick saying it!

I'M 68 now. I bought a 1972 Triumph Bonneville new for $1674.00. Paid cash, saved every penny I could working at a gas station for three dollars an hour. It had a gold tank similar to this one. That's how you could determine the year. Wish I still had it, lots of great memories!

I like how Rick sits there and reiterates the significance of the company and their impact on the industry to somebody who clearly knows what they have

$20k to $9k in two seconds. Seller knew it was only worth $7500. Good job man!.

Not bad, but tires are Dunlop K81's, bike came with K70's. Rocker (valve cover) caps are aftermarket. Looks to be allen bolts on the primary cover, which would be aftermarket too. Missing the stickers on the oil tank, tool box cover and frame. Hard to tell, but I'm going to guess the paint is acrylic, not the enamel it came with. It's a bit too green, a nice job though. Looks like a Don Hutchinson, Wakefield, MA paint job. $9K would be on the high end of retail (in 1970, it was around $1, 300). Bonneville's are a bit more pricey.

Rick: "How much do you want for it before I call my expert so I can tell them what you're asking for it and then they can proceed to lowball you."

Ahhh, Spring 1970 .... I was getting ready to graduate high school. I was a fan of motorcycle road races. All spring, summer, and fall, the ahem "clubs" would go by on Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. My dad, an Indian rider in his younger years, and I would sit out on the front porch and wave at them. Some would wave, some would honk, and a couple pulled into the driveway, proud of their machines. (They gave me a club pin, after talking to my dad.) I would go by the Triumph shop, and yes, they did catch my eye. But! What also came that summer, was my draft number (3).

I was waiting for the expert to say the screws on the logo are rusty so that's gonna significantly lower the value of the bike.

I worked for Triumph-Detroit for many years, starting in 1967. One of my jobs was assembling the new bikes because they came in a crate. It looks original to me, except the mirrors were an add on. If I remember correctly, the TR6 sold for around $1, 089 at the time.

It's crazy anyone would sell this to a pawn shop, and not privately. But heck, this is what makes this show so good. This guy could have gotten 15k all day long if he wasn't in a rush to sell.

Ah, that exhaust note. Still music...after 50 years.
