that's the way i did it and it worked.

1. click start>>run>>type in "cmd"
2. type the location of your flash drive.. e.g. "d:", "e:", "f:", etc..
3. type dir /ah
you will now see the files/folders with hidden attributes
4. type attrib [name of file/folder] -r -a -s -h
if you're going to unhide files, you should type the whole name plus the extension (format).. example attrib party.jpg -r -a -s -h
if you have folders with 6 characters and above, type the first 6 characters then "~1".. example for folder named "birthday" attrib birthd~1 -r -a -s -h
5. you should repeatedly type dir /ah after unhiding some files/folders so you'll know if they're now working or not..
6. now check you flash drive.. it should be there..
note: if you have a folder with "space" then put the full name within quotes. example  attrib "birthday bash photos" -r -a -s -h

no antivirus or software with help you with that kind of problem, actually an antivirus would make it worst, cause it will delete every infected file it finds.

If u Don't Found the original Folder ! U can use Desktop app Called "SEARCH EVERYTHING" >>> install it then search your folder name ... :)...

i have this problem, but only in an external hard drive. what steps do i follow? the local disk is fine (i think so, at least no .exe files everywhere)

Just boot Hiren's Boot CD with the Mini Windows XP and run Fix permission and Delete the virus manually, That's all you have to do in 5 Minutes and reboot to windows normally, That Fix All Windows XP, Vista, WIN 7 and 8.

How about .infowait? Do you have any solution for that. Its a malware that changes the filename of your file by adding".infowait" to the end. Hope you have a solution for this.
