The Windsor knots you mention differ in thickness of the knot. Thinnest is Half Windsor, thickest is Double Windsor. However they all look the same once tied.

A Half Windsor is ideal for very thick ties while a Full or Double are better for thinner ones.

Experiment with each tie you have to find out the optimum knot and length distribution around your neck.

As the Windsor knots are quite wide, they suit large cutaway collars (e.g. St James style shirts).

Never knew there were so many ways to tie a tie. I may sound uncouth but I will need to know this for when I get married one day. This is a great tutorial for both men and WOMEN! :D

I hate wearing a tie, but when I have to wear one I always do a Windsor knot because it is very symmetrical.

One of the main differences is whether the knot is self releasing or not. Meaning when you take out the narrow end it will untie the rest itself. more specifically it just boils down to style, and whether your wearing a jacket or not. Superficial shit like that. A shirt w/a wider collar (Italian cut) is gonna look better w/a wide knot ie Windsor (same as a double). Half Windsor and four in hand are kind of standard good for any tie/shirt combo really.
