I never added a comment on YouTube before. As I have learned, you can find just about anything on YouTube. I have repaired my back of my recliner bracket . All these decades I didn’t know the back came off easily for moving ease . Thanks for the video.

These are great instructions for the upholstered chair. VERY helpful. Here's one more tip. Before you slide the back into the brackets, locate the locking latch and pull it out with your flat screwdriver. I didn't think to do this and could not, for the life of me, locate the latch in all the upholstery.

A close up of these brackets would be super helpful. This is a little bit of a better video than the other I found but it’s not superior. A close-up of the actual mechanical parts you’re moving would be making my day.
Including what it looks like in the locked position and the non-locked position.

In the video, when the guy goes to unlock the left side of the back of the chair, it looks to me as if he is pulling the lever DOWN with his screwdriver towards the bottom of the chair in order to release it. This confused me. When I went to separate the back of my Laz-Z-Boy recliner, I had to take my screwdriver and push the lock features UP towards the top of the chair to release the back, then I pushed them down when it came time to lock them again. I had quite a bit of trouble aligning the back to push it back into the base of the chair. I ended up laying the chair base over on to its front, pushing it up against my bed, and then I laid the top of the chair back on top of the bed and lined it up that way. It still took a few tries but it helped me to see everything a little better. Definitely not as easy as the guy in the video makes it look! He must be a pro! :)

Thank you for this video, La-Z-Boy Inc.! We were having trouble with my father's recliner (after 7 years, the screws had gotten loose and it wasn't sitting correctly, anymore). Took a while for us to stumble across this video. Once we finally saw how to remove the back, it was nothing to get everything in it tightened up, again. :)

Even after watching the video and reading everyone's comments about how much it helped, I can't figure out how to get the seat back onto the base. It was hard to align the brackets without being able to actually see them, and I lack the superhuman strength needed to push the back all the way down onto the base so there's a four-inch gap that isn't in any of the photos of my chair online. I hate calling the service team out when I carried this thing home on my own. But I don't see how I can get this chair assembled without professional help.

Does the back come off completely or does that depend on style and upholstery? I have very narrow hallway and door widths so not sure if I can get a chair into my house.
