I like how you show the small problems and how to deal with them. I understand the concept but when coming to a minor problem is when my mind blanks on how to over come it (i.e the part when the shims kept falling out). Most other DIY videos skip over that part. Well done. Thank you.

21:56 Shannon is so right! I'm a plumbers apprentice and we are taught to slope our pipes at the spirit level lines for a 1/8" per foot so going on the line would totally not be level. This shows how freaking knowledgeable Shannon is! Gawd dam!

I’m installing a door from scratch to my basement to keep the cats from going down there. I have to build the frame too. Thanks for the video Shannon. One thing that was really helpful was what you said at the beginning of the video - leave 1” of extra space for the sides and 1/2” on the top. That will give me 1/2” on all 3 sides to make adjustments. I always trust your recommendations.

Lesson learned about making sure the shims are tight before hammering. I didnt. After hammering in a few nails, the door wouldn't close cleanly and I thought I'd need to sand the side of the door. Thankfully after all nails went all the way in, everything magically just worked! Thanks for this video!
