Great video! One area that buyers need to be aware of is VATS, which is the coded key alarm system. When it fails you'll be stranded.

I originally had my mind set on getting a 92-96. I ended up gettting an 89 and absolutely love it. I love the 80s exterior and interior styling and love how much torque the L98 motor has

Engines: 86 transitions from flat tappet to roller cam and from iron to aluminum heads,

Seats with buttons were sport seats, usually denoting Z51 performance package

86 was also first year for high mounted third brake light

89 was first year with larger seat bolsters

93 was final year for four post air bag steering wheel

88 was first year for brake caliper and rotor hat change that also changed wheel offset

I think 89 went from MAF to speed density thereby eliminating the sensor hanging from the front of the throttle body

I could keep going but the rest is smaller item stuff

Good video

That was one of the best overviews I’ve found over the past few months. Thank you!!

Small correction; the LT5 in the 90 to 95 ZR-1 IS a 350. What it’s not is a first or second generation SBC.

I have a 1992 six speed C4 Corvette which I purchased new. Put a Jasper remanufactured engine in at 268, 000 miles. Put high flow cats to replace failed original cats from blown head gasket of original engine. Replaced original exhaust with a Corsa exhaust. Pretty much stock otherwise. Lots of fun! I did get an x-frame from a convertible C4 and put it on my coupe to increase structural rigidity of frame to improve the ride.

Weatherstripping, steering wheel wobble, tire availability especially for 16” wheels, and headlight operation need considered. Always change filters, replace all fluids, and examine serpentine belt. Lubricate door hinges and hood latches. Buy the factory service manuals.

I have owned four C4’s over 20 years and my recommendation is to look for 1991 and 1994-1996 models. Less issues than with earlier models. Best C4 to buy in my opinion is the 1996 year. Regardless of what year one chooses, they all deliver a unique visceral go kart driving experience. They all are at least or near over 30 years old and try to have a few thousand dollars set aside for repairs, maintenance, and unexpected issues. Enjoy!

5:55 - So are those 4+3 speed something to avoid?

I have a 93 Corvette Coupe that I recently purchased. All original parts when bought. Just replaced the plugs, wires, brake rotors, pads, brake fluid flush and replaced the brake booster. I am now wanting to replace the exhaust system but I am debating on whether to do a muffler delete or replace the mufflers. Any recommendations? Also, what size are the wheels and tires on you red Corvette?

FYI.. you should change the name of your parts description.. Its not worth the hassle of EPA getting you, name your kitty delete pipe, ( off road connection pipe ).. Selling defeat devices is a $10k fine for each one sold brother.. would hate to see you jammed up..

The C4's get no love in the Corvette world but they are a great bargain for the price

I hate that I bought my Black 96 during Covid times, but I really needed a car and didn't want some boring dd. Bought it for $7k with chrome C6 wheels, a crappy 2000s aftermarket stereo, worn seats, bad shocks, bad brakes, bad weatherstrip, scratched up dash, a Maako respray (paint later flaked off the weatherstrip retainers), bad starter, and missing air dam pieces.
I've since fixed almost everything but the stereo, seats, and air dam, but I'm losing a lot of money over a car I don't even like that much.

How I wish I'd have found a red 89. It's the perfect C4 in my opinion, but it just seems so hard to find a red/red coupe in decent condition here in LA. They're all over 100k miles with issues and people are still asking around 9-12k for it. Can't afford that, AND the debt this f**king car's put me into on a Gas Station clerk's salary haha.

The 700r4 or 4l60e are not good transmissions as stated. They do not handle power well at all. I guess for a stock engine they are ok but not really because if you beat on them they are weak.
