Is Going To University WORTH IT in 2024?

Hello viewers, in this video I will discuss if University is worth it in 2023. You might be wondering, should I go to University? And if that is the case, you are in the right place. Is University just a waste of time?

As a fairly recent graduate myself, in this video I cover 4 topics I think are essential to be aware of before going to University so you can make the best possible decision for you. These are, Student Loans, Competition, Education v Experience and Online Learning.

Student loans are expensive, and not talked about enough. You go to University, and then suddenly you've got (on average) £45,000 of debt in the UK. This is a lot of money and definitely something to consider.

Competition is accelerating at University, over a third of high school grads went to University in 2021. This would suggest that it is now much less of a selling point to have a degree, if everyone else has got one too.

Education is becoming less rated by employers in my experience looking for jobs, and they care more about industry experience instead to show them who is a valuable employee. This makes apprenticeship schemes and base level jobs a potentially better option.

Online learning is becoming more and more available and you can pretty much learn anything you want from the comfort of your own home, for free, without using 4 years of your life. Something worth thinking about.

Hope you enjoyed everyone!

Lots of love,
Niall x

Defnitely some good points about thinking uni as the default. It's amazing to me how many people stick around for 4 or even 5 years despite having 0 interest in their field just because it is the expected route of progression. Wish I had a degree in like and subscribe studies so I could do this video justice

A degree is very important if you want to change careers. It's always considered. Online learning sucks for most people. Very easy to lose motivation when you are studying alone looking at the screen.

I think getting experience in the field is one of the best things you could do for your desired career. Great video, lighting is looking good!!! <3

Wow this is perfect timing as a student about to sit their A-Levels. I’m in the same boat where I just want to go for the experience to be honest and I guess a degree will always be a safe staple on my CV. But the debt, especially for this year, has completely lost my interest and I’m kind of thankful for it as it really made me consider how it will affect my future and whether the degree will be worth the set backs it will come with. I really am thankful for your honesty and optimism on not following the uni path it’s not often encouraged in the education system.

I’m my opinion, if you can afford to go to uni, it will always be worth it.

You learn so much about yourself as well as how to learn in uni. Not to mention learning so much from extra courses you’re required to take. Such as critical thinking

Time gives perspective. Maturity takes time. Life is for living. Debt isn’t great but is paid off gradually.🤔🧐🤔Think carefully before deciding . Many just aren’t ready to go straight into the 9 to 5 world and grind of a job when school leaver age. Clear and concise advice.😊

I rather employee non woke young people who can think for themselves than over educated drones who think there degree means they should get paid more.
