I've also found that my mood is significantly improved with regular exercise, which has made the lives of those closest to me better as well.

Thanks Lucy, Im a 52 year old guy . Today is my first day of getting back in shape . Got some injuries but like you said don't worry about motivation, just do the small things. I also see I'm alone on this journey . Anybody reading this don't ever give up . Like the lady said keep your goals in mind !

I stopped working out after doing it for a year and gained all the weight back and then some. My breathing was more labored it was so hard to climb stairs, and my back hurt all the time.

So once I started up again I did it with a smile because I knew I NEVER wanted to feel like that again. I got a taste of what life was like with less pain and less breathing issues and it was addicting.

I totally agree with that “Aha” moment, I feel like for years I tried to exercise and eat well and would constantly fail because I put too many expectations on myself, but at the beginning of this year I had a realization that I need to want to choose to do this, and that I want to try my hardest! And I’ve never been kinder to my body than I have this year, so I definitely agree with everything you said here!!

Another brilliant vid, I love your honesty and no BS approach, so much of the fitness community online now tries to pretend that it's possible (and easy!) to feel motivated everyday and eat 100% perfect everyday and smash your goals all the time, so it's really refreshing to see someone being real and not pretending to be a super-human

Great advice, Lucy, as always! Whenever I think about motivation, I remember something a psychologist said on this one podcast. She said something like, "Let your behavior dictate your feeling -- not your feeling dictating your behavior." In other words, sooo many times we ask ourselves if we "feel" like doing something. And if we don't, we don't do it. Instead, just do it (like the Nike slogan says), and the happy -- or at least accomplished -- feelings will come after! And even if it still sucked, at least you stayed consistent, which we all should be proud of! 😊

You seem like such a genuinely nice person and your before looks a lot like mine. Now I'm at a normal weight but still totally unfit and not happy with my body. I do workouts for some weeks now and your journey helps a lot, thanks. Greetings from Germany 😊

I did not expect you to talk about severe anxiety, but I found that portion incredibly meaningful, thank you for sharing! I have anxiety as well, but it is improving a lot. Rationalising and educating myself was one of the things that helped me the most!

Really love your videos! I’ve started training in calisthenics after finding that it’s very beneficial for doing pole & aerial & over all strength conditioning. It’s tough & discipline is necessary. I’ve found that many folks In my circle who don’t train for strength with just body weight dont understand the process. I haven’t come across a lot of channels with women who do calisthenics so this is a 💎 gem. I like that you share your journey & let yourself be vulnerable. Keep up the great work !♥️😊👍

Over the years I have learned, it’s all food, the gym help speed it up a little but it mostly makes you fit. Building muscle will help a lot but the reality is, with food alone, you’ll melt

Thank you so much for your content! I understand it’s important to accept not always feeling motivated, but it’s so much easier when you are and I want you to know that your videos really helps <3
This is not the first time I’ve tried to lose some weight and improve my fitness level, but this time it really feels different. I’ve been unhappy and tired for a long time, but since I decided to make a change I’ve felt so much lighter and I’m exited for the future. This time around I’ve decided to set easier and less strict goals than before. One of my goals is for example to do some sort of excercis every day. I’d love to take a morning walk most days, but in fear of failing this early on I’ve decided that any exercis is good even 10 minutes of stretching :) My ultimate goal is to climb 7a at some point, but at the moment I don’t even want to put any goals for my sessions other than showing up and having fun :)
I thought I’d wright this down for some accountability :P I’m way to shy to share it on my social media, but now it’s somewhere on the public internt :P

Thanks again Lucy, and don’t forget to take some time for yourself! You’re content is amazing, but you seem like a busy person and as a people pleaser it can be hard to take time off…

I have lost 30 pounds earlier and gained it back..felt terrible..now I have lost around 14 pounds but this time I am more focused on making my lifestyle better and visualize how I want my life to be than how I want to look in short term..
