After fellow creative, Josiah, invited me on to shoot a portfolio piece he was directing on 16mm film, I had to say yes. He found a sweet spot underneath a highway overpass which gave us plenty of options for composition. (Check out some of his photos from the shoot on his IG page @josiahroetker). The overcast day gave us predominantly diffused lighting which provided a nice soft source for the skin.

I shot on my Arri SR2 paired with the Canon 8-64mm to reduce time spent swapping lenses. I had to pull focus manually since I couldn’t use a follow focus (forgot my LWS) which proved to be tough while rocking the easy rig.

Our stylist, Laura came up with some distinct looks that elevated the production and looked great on film. Her attention to detail is undeniable in her work as a stylist and artist. (IG: @wolfela @laurawolfeart)

—And obviously without awesome talent we wouldn’t have anything to shoot at all, so shoutout to the models, who were very down to earth and a pleasure to work with. (IG: @julian_joaquin_ellison @sammbur)

I liked it, but I felt that each shot was far too short to actually get a good look at the people and their clothes.

Hello, great content . Was your camera already converted to super 16 when you bought it ? I believe all SR2 camera only came out with standard 16.

Looks nice! Does Super 16 cost more than 16mm?
