Should YOU Buy a Gaming Keyboard or Enthusiast Keyboard? How to Make the Right Choice for YOU!

With mechanical keyboards becoming more and more mainstream and the lines between what a gaming keyboard is becoming more and more blurred I decided to make a video to look into what exactly makes a gaming keyboard different from any other mechanical board and IF there is actually any benefit to be had to the hardcore gamer. Should you go Razer or Corsair? Ducky or DROP? What's better, a gaming keyboard or an enthusiast keyboard? The answer will be different for everyone based on your desired traits but which ever side of the fence you fall on this video should help you decide.

*Full Disclosure : I received a product sample to make a video. I was not paid to make this video. My opinions expressed in the video are my own. My integrity is not for sale.

My keyboard has WASD lit up in a different colour by default. So gaming.

This is insane. I feel like his head and neck are greenscreened onto someone elses body

I don't think a keyboard matters as much as the mouse does. I was on membrane for years in the early 2000 before finally buying an overpriced Razer keyboard in 2011

i bought my first high end keyboard recently and I agree with this video in that I am amazed by how much better keyboards have gotten in the last year or 2. Like I watched a lot of videos from gaming keyboards over the last 6 years they have really gotten a lot nicer recently

What I learned from this is many people in the comments can’t seem to understand that some people don’t want the “enthusiast” experience. We just want some cool lights with absolutely nothing to do out of the box. I got my Huntsman Elite and slapped some PBT keycaps on it and the thacking sound from the red switches that everyone seems to hate is one I actually love. I’m not dissing your enthusiast keyboards (which are your personal choice and preferences) so why you gotta diss my mass produced keyboard (my personal choice and preference)?

Even a lot of the pros use key switches that have good feel rather than performance. For instance, tfues ducky one 2 mini has brown switches. And his new 3500 dollar keyboard has cream switches. Just because you have a faster actuation point, it doesn’t really make you any better or perform better.

I have a keyboard I really like, and was thinking about getting a supposedly better keyboard because it's labeled as a gaming keyboard... Thanks a lot for helping me realize I don't need to spend money on a new keyboard :)

I tried many prebuilt keyboards. Currently I'm using a Varmilo VA88M but my favorite for gaming was Razer Blackwidow TE v2 with orange switches. The first I bought was terrible, the 2nd is awesome. Best switch for gaming for me. Typing was also satisfying on it. Keycaps and wobbling was acceptable but the switch feeling was just the best I ever tried for gaming. Unfortunately I sold it because I got mad at razer for their terrible quality control after getting other faulty products. Still regretting it. Couldn't get a better keyboard for gaming since then.

The reason I bought mechanical gaming keyboard are mainly for aesthetic and tactile typing feeling. But does it improve my gameplay? I don't think so. A good mouse is the peripheral that really improve my gameplay.

Great video. Loved the history touch as well. I didn’t hear any mention of features like “N key rollover” or “ anti-ghosting.” Do all modern keyboards, as opposed to gaming branded keyboards specifically, have this baked in, or was that not mentioned? Thanks.

Still have the 2010 blackwidow with blue cherry mx switches. Still great, not faded or worn looking: just like new (Ordered small ducky now though) *2013 version apparantly

I use the old K95 with 18 G-keys specifically for CAD/CAM and other engineering applications. Having a 'block' of macro keys can be incredibly useful for view orientations and more. I am no PC gamer

the only real problem with using non gaming keyboards for gaming is that many have pretty bad input delay and 125hz polling rate. So if you press a key and click right after, the click can get registered first so that something completely different happens from what you meant to do.

I bought the steelseries apex 7 tkl because it was easy to find. And I just bought a ducky one 2 mecha mini because my countries store had a couple in stock. Keycaps on the apex aren't great but it is easy to use.

"Does it matter?"

In the sense that it can provide an actual, tangible benefit? No.

are enthusiast keyboards macro? cid like to put arrow keys on h, j, k and L + FN. Is that possible? Do i need to edit the rom for that? Or maybe put Ctrl where Caps lock is too
