It is a tragedy for the citizens to be held "hostage" on this situation. They should be well compensated no matter if it was a part of deregulation or not.

When the government isn't talking, the government isn't lying.

Make the railroad put IR sensors on each wheel, they are cheaper than dealing with cleanups and make the railroads do regular maintenance for their equipment. Amtrak does it, so they can too.

How are you going to let someone who worked for the railroad "head of NTSB" TELL YOU ITS ALL GOOD.
Steve Woody has a huge conflict of intrest!!!

I met someone who deals with vinyl chloride, that stuff is deadly and dangerous in that liquid form.

Don't drink the water anywhere near this area. People are getting sick from drinking it. Headaches, stomach problems, are just a few of the symptoms.

I was just watching the latest train crash on the news 🚉🚧 That train was moving way too fast through that crossing.
Around here all of those cargo trains go pretty slow. I can't recall ever reading about a train crash around here, . A smaller state I suppose.

Also, there should be a way to add an additional axle and two wheels front and back on cars, so a car can totally lose a wheel and not derail.

It's gonna end up being a million dollars per family by the time all the relocations are reimbursed, years and decades of ongoing medical treatment and future death lawsuits. Greed kills. Prayers for these families.

I think ‘new’ is being misused for ‘obvious’.

Trains were up and running within a week.
If the town is declared a disaster, trains can no longer pass through, therefore, no one from the government will help them.
Not one MEGA-church or PRO-Life group has reached out to any of those souls in need (I'm sure Joel Osteen could house a family of 7 in his pool shed).
Water bottled from nearby plants has now been pulled from grocery shelves.
911 killed 2, 996 people.
Responders who worked 'the pile' after the EPA told them it was safe are now dead or dying.
Norfolk Southern just killed 5, 000 people and the government is helping hide it.

Made no progress? These sensors that were deemed too much regulation weren’t progress?

I say anyone with 15 miles should get a few million to move away point blank. Gonna be the next Mesothelioma late night commercial...

It is important to ask why if the US has banned Vinyl Chloride since Aug., 16 1974. Why are transporting it, and burning it in the open?

Biden looks like a life alert actor every time he says something😂

Absolutely

The tank cover tops just protect the valves and fill access....they're basically dust covers.

They do not and are not there to seal the contents of a tank car.

Not to sound rude but checking heat on wheels every 10 miles is laughable I'm a mechanic guy and can assure you no company checks their fleet vehicles every 10 miles. A train can be argued that it sees more miles then a semi truck. Semi trucks ain't stopping every 10 miles don't be ridiculous. Not to mention their isn't enough train mechanics to run a miles long worth of wheels every 10 miles actually 9 because the train itself is a mile long.
