The mother of missing Jay Slater has said she will use donations to fund her stay on Tenerife as the hunt for her son continues into a second week.

Debbie Duncan said the £36,000 raised by more than 3,200 individual donations will be used to support mountain rescue teams, and to cover her own accommodation and food costs during her extended stay on the island.

Ms Duncan flew out to join the search for her son on June 18, the day after he went missing.

The teenager, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, disappeared following an attempt to walk back to his accommodation after missing a bus.

Talk's Mike Graham is joined by senior foreign news reporter at The Sun Katie Davis to discuss.

It is wrong to refer to anyone as a troll, because they ask what the money is for, and ask for accountability in the disbursement of the go fund me.

Cactus contain water - if he had his machete with him he could have hacked them to survive

Lots of “facts” being spouted in the press. But all we really know is what Lucy said. Who’s to say she’s not being truthful? Did he really call her? Did he really say he was thirsty? Did she really tell him to stay put? Did he really say he was injured on a cactus? If the Spanish authorities have Jay’s phone, that will hold a lot more truth than we are receiving from his friends and family.

No need to bring so many people out. Let the authorities do their job. They didnt do their job in this country. Let a machete gang walk free. I bet you, one of his mates 'find him in a shed, or he walks into a police station. Saying I think my name is Jay's faking amnesia

Not quite sure how the mountain rescue teams are going to be 'supported'. Very vague, and we'll see how the GFMe Dosh is actually spent ''supporting" the lads .

Course all of sudden they want access to that £30, 000 "for travel & accommodation" This is disgusting

If a local took him in, they would have helped him get in touch with his family. I doubt that's what happened. I have driven on that road in 2019. Its a narrow winding road, and from behind the wheel, you get a sense of how high you are, and how dangerous the roads are without those barriers. Jay could have stood close to the edge to take a better look at the terrain, and possibly lost his footing, and tumbled down the mountain. He might be found in an area where rescue teams might have to scale down the side with a harness, to retrieve him. I doubt Jay walked that far in at all.

If the Spanish police are saying they have enough resources then why is the money needed to support the search teams ?

Main Stream Media is always putting Social Media down when it comes to reporting on a story. It seems as if they feel threatened that Social Media will someday make them obsolete. Perhaps they will because when I am following a story, I usually go to Social Media first. They have the ability to report a story more freely without moderators and FCC guidelines.

Is everyone ignoring the fact that he’s related to the woman who drugged and hid her child under a bed for ages and pretended she’d gone missing to get money.. he could be doing something similar

The reports in the papers are very confused and contradictory but I think this is due to inexperienced journalists not analysing press releases properly

Over the years a lot of people have gone missing in Tenerife mainly young people Last year a young irish lad Ryan Cooney went missing Fortunately he was found safe and well after some days This gives hope for the Slater family that their son Jay will be found too🙏
