Peter Gabriel - Red Rain Live November 1993 16mm Film (4K)

Recorded live November 16-17, 1993 in Modena Italy

A friend asked me to try a 4K remaster of Peter Gabriel's Secret World tour film. It was such an amazing tour with an almost perfect setlist and line-up (IMO, of course) that I thought I'd give it a try. I upscaled the Blu-Ray HD film with Topaz AI, reduced the grain which is heavy on this film for some reason, interpolated to 60fps (it had already been converted from 24fps to 29.97fps), and did other cleanup of both the video and audio.

Well, as happens with many of our videos, the entire main portion of the show was blocked by YT, and all that's left is this bonus track. But what a track!

If anyone has Genesis or Peter Gabriel films, contact us. We scan, restore, and sync sound to them for free!

Manu Katche is such a beast on drums and percussions...plus Tony Levin on bass and Paula Cole on backup vocals...wow... just a classic and stellar performance.

It's one of the those divine magical moments where the whole band are just on fire at the same instant with Manu and Tony leading the way! Peters vocal is incredible....it is quite simply just a sensational amazing live track!!!

I have this great show, with a wonderful Paula Cole, on VHS tape. I digitalised it a few months ago.

I'm not really convinced tbh, removing the grain is removing what makes film stock interesting, and it's even more damaging I think on 16mm which already doesn't have much sharpness and image quality to begin with.
As for 60 fps interpolation, it's technically interesting but I don't think it really brings something to a film-like picture.

Amazing quality!!! Are you gonna upload the concert again in full? Maybe if you upload all the songs separately, youtube will allow you to do it. Or have you uploaded it in full in some other platform? It would be a shame if nobody was able to see it, after all the work you have put into doing this!
