hey y'all! here are the differences between substitute teaching for middle school/ junior high school (grades 7-8) and high school (grades 9-12).

I was a substitute teacher from April 2019- March 2020 (when schools closed because of the virus). I subbed for grades 5-12 for all subjects, general and special education.

I just subbed 5th grade for the first time today and it was nerve-wracking! I think it went pretty well. Tomorrow I sub high school and that terrifies me because like what you said, they won't see me as an authority especially cause I'm only 20 years old!

I like elementary the most. With elementary, we only do attendance 1 time a day. 😆

I’d love to hear about subbing more specifically for 6th-8th grade. I appreciate it all the information.

Highschool where I am is just like middle school but the thing is they don’t care about discipline. They talk the whole time.

I think I would prefer subbing for high school too. Seems more chill and easier to manage.

Can you do a video on what you wear? I'm doing orientation next week and need outfit ideas for when I start! :)

Hi Brianna! Thanks for this helpful video :) I have a question- English isn't my native language and I am starting district-wide sub (also in Texas!) soon. I get nervous just thinking about highschoolers! I thought I would feel more comfortable with young kids(K-2) but some people told me that elementary school is generally tougher to sub because you basically need to lead the class almost all day. What age group would you recommend for a new sub who is in her late 30s, with some classroom experience as a foreign language instructor, and is not a native English speaker(a foreigner!)?

Be honest are 8th graders mean? I have to sub for them for the first time. I usually do elementary level.

Do you actually teach when you’re a sub?

"Black Grad" ? "Latino"? Seriously? Why is everything about race? Our race is the LEAST most important thing about us!
