thank you so much! I'll be starting my first year as a substitute this fall because 1 of my 2 my daughters is starting high school this fall and I want to be as involved as I can! I've been a nurse practitioner for 30 years and only working 3 days a week so I felt this way a way I could help and stay involved.

Great tips except for the "busy work". If you're in my room there will be actual plans with relevant and rigorous work as I don't believe in busy work. But having it in case the teacher left you NOTHING is not a bad idea.

I bring my own pen and pencil to write notes but the kids are using their own and sharing or borrowing the teachers provisions since i make 1/4 of what a teacher does possibly less 😅

When we had a subtute we were only ten elevan we had this coubord in the hall way the whole class cramped in the coubord as soon as we got out we just called our parents we so over reacted
