Removing Stubborn/Stuck Lower Ball Joint - Tacoma 1998

I remove a stubborn/difficult lower ball joint on a 1998 Toyota Tacoma using a car jack and ball joint removal fork, aka ball joint separator, aka pickle fork.

Been geoing through this on my Dakota. I put a punch between the upper balljoint stud and the lower control arm, with a jack under the control arm. Lifted the whole truck up just on the stupid balljoint, and it still wouldn't release.

Thanks for the vid man! Just spent all day trying to get the lower ball joint off my 02 Silverado. I tried the pickle fork and I did try the jack, but I did not think to COMBINE them! Gonna try this first thing tomorrow.

Been at this same thing for 5 days I got the uppers out both sides. Just the stubborn bottom joints. I’ve tried everything that I can think of. Even the pickle fork and jack. I even got a cheater pipe for the pickle fork and still no budge at all.

My issue seems to be that theres too much space between the upper joint ant the control arm for the fork. Fork is loose in between.

I have the same problem ...I spend like 5 hours trying to separate the ball joint from the lower arm...I end up so tired after many, many, many times hitting the lower arm with no success ...I will try your idea thank you for sharing

This didn’t work for me. Removed the upper arm from knuckle and a couple taps it came right out

My ball joint didn't come out even after putting it on a jack and after that a jackstand and hitting it with a fork and I have a truck, so that's several 100 pounds, beat on it for 7 hours (no joke) pried with the fork and a crowbar with a fork at the end, did everything I could, tried heat and then pb blaster, NOTHING don't know what to do now

I've tried both these methods and it won't budge. 4 days at it and nothing.
