To those saying "it's not a mistake" - if it's unintentional and a beginner wants to follow the original pattern, then it's a mistake (unless it says FLO or BLO"). Correcting it is good, it helps beginners prevent frustrations and not understanding why their work looks different. Besides, mistake doesn't mean bad! It can even look cute!

Not wrong, just two different ways of crocheting. I like the texture it gives a piece.

No one ever actually states this in the beginner stuff!

Not sure why everyone is saying "it's not wrong! Just a different stitch." Yes, that's true, BLO or FLO is definitely a stitch, but when I was beginning to crochet, I was unintentionally crocheting FLO and was confused as to why my stitches and work looked off from what I was trying to follow. Yes, there's a time and place for FLO and BLO, but this is not it. She's pointing out something very helpful.

I kinda like the way the mistake looks.

Thank you! I've been crocheting as a kid and no one ever says this. I've always wondered if I was doing it wrong and I always felt so unsure. I just try to be consistent 😂

Love stumbling onto this video this right after finishing the last square I need for my cardigan. The worst part is looking back on the video I learned from and realising that this was explicitly pointed out lmao. Oh well, it still looks fine.

I completely understand where people are coming from because it’s not technically wrong to crochet like this. FLO or BLO is a technique but as she states in the video, she’s trying to help the people who are unintentionally doing this.

We all know what a standard single crochet (US for me) looks like, and the texture/pattern is different from a BLO or FLO crochet.

As someone who recently got into crochet, these kinds of videos are very helpful. ESPECIALLY when I’m following a pattern and not realizing that I’m not doing a proper single crochet and wondering why my project looks slightly off.

I’m just writing this because there are quite a lot of people who misunderstood the video and are implying that OP is gatekeeping crochet. When in reality, they just posted an informative video.

Call me crazy, but I think the end result of the "wrong way", looks pretty cool. Its a good way to mix things up a little bit if u wanna do something a little different & like maybe add some texture..

This video is how I learned what front loops and back loops meant. Just came across it again and figured I should say thank you 😂

omg i've been wondering whether i should insert it in one side or both ever since i tried crocheting whenever the people from the videos i watch say insert it to the loop because they never clarify it😭 this advice is great!

even the wrong one looks so much better than the shit I've been making fr

This is exactly what I did during my first attempt at crocheting. I think it’s because when you crochet into your first chain you only go through one loop so you have that in your head when you crochet into your second line

I used to do that all the time and I couldn’t figure out why mine work didn’t look like other peoples, but a few months ago I figured out how to do it the right way and tbh it looks a lot better😂

Ohhh I didn’t know that! Sometimes crochet tutorials are kinda hard to see so ig that’s why I made the mistake. Thank you!

I've only recently realized this while crocheting, this confusion came from the fact that there is only a top loop from the origional chain, so I just kept doing the front loop. I now crochet under both loops and I feel like my stich looks nicer and is more secure

Every video I've watched hasn't said this, i was so confused why it didn't look right and it was getting me so close to stopping and I'm so glad i saw this thank you

I just corrected my niece on this last week. I had to show her the v 4 times. She rolled her eyes at me like I was making it up since she knows I taught myself when I was 9 from a book. Maybe now she'll trust that I know what I'm doing
