Straight Edges Crochet Hack
Are you tired of your crochet projects looking warped? Using a foundations turning chain will fix your problems. I’m going to teach you how to crochet straight edges every time. This stitch works great for double crochet stitches or bigger.

*Most people use chain 3 as their turning chain, and the crochet project will come out looking “spacey”.
*Another option is to chain 2 stitches and double crochet back into the same stitch. This might eliminate the gap, but unfortunately is will leave your crochet edges looking lumpy.

With this crochet hack, you will learn how to crochet straight edges perfectly every time. If you are looking for more crochet tips and tricks

I’ve been crocheting for 50 years and never thought of trying to figure out how to create such a smooth finish to the sides. Awesome technique! Thank you! 💗

I've been crocheting since the mid 1940's, and have crocheted everything. I didn't know this. I've crocheted with fine thread and a 14 hook, and I've crocheted with worsted for afghans. This old dog learned a new trick. Thank you.

Wonderful video! You got straight to it with no blah blah blah and gave us very clear instructions about what to do. Thanks so much.

Great tip: Thanks a lot . 0:34 is the most repeated because your fingers almost cover the stitch we must go into making it hard to see. Remember: When you are a beginner one of the hardest things to "get" is what each stitch looks like and where to put the hook.

If you want to use this method for a HDC, after the first SC do a Slip Stitch instead of the second SC.

So that's what they mean by a stacked or chainless turn for straight edges - TY!!!

I watched this tutorial a few weeks back, and I've been using this method ever since. I can't thank you enough for showing us how to do (FINALLY LOL) straight edges. It seemed no matter what I tried I still had gappy, lumpy edges. NOW my work looks so much better. Thank you thank you thank you. 😁😁👏👏👍👍

Unless the pattern is “lacy”, I NEVER “chain 3 (counts as DC)”. I always chained one turning & then a standing double & it helps. But THIS is freaking BRILLIANT! Thanks SO much & SO glad I stopped to see if I could do my brother’s birthday scarf a bit better!😀
