5:58 you should probably click on the link to look at the contents of the bios and make sure it supports the same kind of memory on your card. sometimes same make and model cards come with different memory

Thanks for the video, much appreciated. I picked up a 2nd hand Gigabyte Eagle RX 6700xt recently for cheap (likely ex-mining) after getting it setup and installing the drivers the Core Clocks were stuck around 500mhz, memory at 2000 and performance was sluggish 50-60w 99% util (maybe a mining bios?) Followed your video and it's working great now. 👍

Thanks for the video, same thing just happened to me. I bought a RX 570 4GB on eBay. I got no video output at on my X470 AMD system, thankfully I got video output on my old B-85 Intel board. The AMD installer would crash every time I tried installing the drivers. Reflashing the Bios was my last hope, thankfully it worked.

There were RX 570's that were 15% cheaper because they had mining bios, and the seller didn't fell like reflashing them all, so he gave a discount. I went with this one because the seller said it was in "Good Condition", no mention it was a mining card, or that it had a mining bios. I paid the extra money, so I wouldn't have to deal with this BS. Luckily, I've been tinkering with computers for a while and had back-ups I could use for testing. The seller sold two total, I feel bad for the other buyer, I hope they can figure it out.

Looks like the issues I am having with a a 5500xt that I bought from Craigslist. It's been forever since I flashed a GPU bios, so it was good refresher video. I will report back.

Many thanks to you. Got a Radeon 6700xt from that went into blackscreen at boot 50% (Linux and Windows), crashed to black screen when above 90°C. So i did your flash procedure, because the vbios was from january 2021 and techpowerup had one from february 2021 (maybe debugged). Few minutes of work, now the card comes up at every boot and stay 85°, think they fixed stuff up.

I had the same issue with my 6700xt, I bought it as an used mining card, and it had mining firmware on it preventing windows to decide what to do with it, a quick flash and it worked just fine.

The different (officially verified) bioses are for different cards. Usually, (on both nvidia and amd) it works fine to flash one to another but it is possible it can cause issues. For example my card is "F3" iteration, and there is both "F2" and "F3" bioses (exact same, same card, model, clocks etc.) however the "F3" is suitable for me in my case.

Sometimes (with for example gigabyte gtx cards) "F1" might be flashable to "F5" but not "f10". You can usually find these info on manufacturers site. But generally, pretty safe to flash "wrong" bios.

I bought a refurbished Radeon Pro W5700 expecting to use it on my Mac mini with an Akitio Node Titan eGPU enclosure. For some reason though, I can only use it on my Windows desktop because that's the only thing that worked when I tested it. Any time I tried eGPU on a Mac, it would kernel panic and boot loop until it was powered off or disconnected; then the Mac worked just fine like nothing happened. This GPU *should* work on macOS, because I've seen other YouTube videos showing the W5700 working on a MacBook Pro.

TechPowerUp shows that the VBIOS to my GPU has three different manufacturers: AMD, HP, and Dell. Turns out, mine has an HP VBIOS, since that's the only one that didn't pull any errors when I tried to flash it. I'm guessing that since my GPU came with a bunch of HP documentation, it was an OEM part to an HP workstation. Does that mean my GPU is basically region-locked? Is there a way to bypass this and install a proper AMD VBIOS?

Version 4.71 was a Linux version, v 3.31 was for Windows, that's why 4.71 was older :)

Any idea why the newest verison of AMDVBFlash / ATI ATIFlash (5.0.567) doesn't have the amdvbflashWin.exe file? I am at a dead end without that.
