OSCP Exam Day - First Attempt 2/10/2021

My first attempt of the 24 hour OSCP exam from Offensive Security.

I know that feeling, this exam is no joke. Getting 60 points the first time is a lot better than most people get the first attempt including myself. Ive got my third attempt coming up in two weeks. Just keep crushing boxes in the mean time. Practice makes perfect. Keep at it. You’ll get it the next time for sure.

Maybe going through the Course Materials would have helped before going all in on the Labs.

Hey unlucky mate, first attempt fail is a right of passage for most of us.. You'll have a better shot second attempt, no need to do anything drastically different, just stay the course.

Sorry to hear that and hope you pass next time. Please share your experience and what you have done differently to pass the exam, because I am going to register but don't know how to start and which one to register.

I set up a mock exam environment yesterday and got 45 points. I used 4 PG Practice machines and a buffer overflow binary I had never seen before. I have to admit that it really is a mental challenge. I’m glad I was able to simulate the experience now instead of waiting until exam day. Do you have any particular list of machines you have pwned that you think helped given your current insight on your first attempt? Any recommendations or pointers for what o expect?

Not bad for 60! I do suggest having 2-3 screens & taking hour-long breaks on your next attempt. I'm sure that you'll crush it on your next attempt.

Andy, Congrats on the 60 points. Could you break down your timeline for the exam? how many breaks did you take? How long did you sleep before restarting? dinner break? Would geting the PenTest+ help with the OSCP?
