It makes sense because the pay off for actually passing the certification is way more than the initial cost of the certification. It would be good if they had a reduced resit price but initial cost seems alright considering what you gain in terms of credit, and opportunity

Even though I agree that the price is too high, but OSCP's official book does address this, that this cert is not for students but for network security and system administration professionals. So you are right, it does not make sense for students because it is not for them.

Truth in this, I am out of college and a working professional and i find the 1499 price tag stupid expensive

How I did it was I got a DevOps engineer job in 1st year of university that funded my cybersecurity certifications, courses, books and now in the 2nd year I am at my dream job working as a malware analyst. Some things are hard to achieve but it's worth it. And if you can't do it now, there's still time, just don't waste it and focus on skill more than gatekeeping certs. I don't even have OSCP
