A Huntsman Spider Gets A Gentle Pat || ViralHog

"I am a wildlife photographer and science communicator. I went looking for one of Australia's largest species of spider, the Giant Green-bellied Huntsman. One individual was so large and pregnant that she didn't care about anything touching or trying to move her, so she allowed me to pat her. It was a good opportunity to show that they are not dangerous and don't want to bite or attack humans."

That‘s honestly really cute. Huntsmen spiders tend to be the hardest to love because of their intimidating appearance, but here I am absolutely loving this one to bits.

There‘s just something about scary/creepy animals being docile that just does it for me.

I can't tell you how badly I want one. I had arachnophobia for years but over the last several years I've gotten over it except when it comes to damn yellow sack spiders which I don't fear as much as I dispise them with a firey burning passion. Huntsmen spiders were one of the 1st spiders that helped me begin to get over my fear of spiders. The first time I saw one I just wanted it. Keep in mind this was when I would panic if a spider was within 10 feet of me. Idk what it was about the Huntsmen but I saw it and instantly fell in love. Then I began to hold and keep jumping spiders as pets and would bring a couple dozen inside to get rid of the yellow sack and fruit/Nat infestation we had. I also around the same time started to love cat face and other orb weavers. Now I have almost no fear of spiders and I really owe that to Huntsmen and jumping spiders. I still want a Huntsman spider so I've kept my eyes out for one because they golden Huntsmen spiders are native to the state I am in but unfortunately I love just far enough North I haven't found one yet. Maybe one of these days I will find the time to head south and go camping till I find myself a Golden huntsman spider. If not I might see if I can order one online along with 2 six eyed sand spiders and two six eyed spitting spiders because I also love both of those because they are both so unique.
