Kid Left Behind At Water Park

The mother of the summer camp participant is furious. CBS 2's Dana Kozlove reports.

Oh hell no. My daughter would raise hell if her little brother was nowhere to be seen. Then the summer camp director would be in jail. He should NOT be in charge of children.

There was a case several years ago where a daycare left a child at the beach. They apparently didn't check when they put the children back on the bus, and she was left by herself. She started playing with two other children, and when that mother started packing up, she realized that no one was taking responsibility for the little girl, so she took her over to the lifeguard, who then called the police. The daycare didn't realize the child was missing until the mother came to get her. That was when someone finally called the police. A toddler. A very small child who wasn't able to fully explain what daycare she was in. If that other mother hadn't been so very careful, and taken steps to make sure the child was safe. . .

There is no excuse for this. Totally preventable. Thank God he is reunited with his mother.

Good gawd no! When I was a daycare staff we always counted the kids thoroughly! We’d count them before we left, once we were on the bus, several times while they were playing after we arrived, then once we’d gathered to leave and again once we were on the bus! Field trip safety is important, and you *HAVE* to know where every kid in your care is.

Not for nothing but I frequently go on school field trips with my kids and I’ve noticed that some of the parents who are chaperoning are so busy chitchatting with each other that they don’t even pay attention to the kids (outside of their own). My kids go to a private school which is much smaller but I can see how easily it could happen.

This reminds me of the video of a child, no scratch that. A 2 YEAR OLD left in a daycare because the thought she was a doll. tf is you working with kids for???

I would never get lost at somewhere at summer camp cause my brother if I was lost if they said just Come on he wouldn't listen and he would run and find me 1:56 😎

Blown way out of prospective. The simple fact that the kid was old enough to call mom and ask for a ride shows he was not in danger. However the counselors should undergo additional training and learn to count heads before leaving with a load of kids next time.
