Ideas:
-Best vegetarian only lizards.
-Feeder insects: Buy ‘em or raise ‘em when you only have one lizard (leopard gecko)?
-Monthly/annual cost to maintain one leopard gecko.
-How to plan for emergency lizard care in case of power outage/water shut off/etc., especially in winter.

Thanks!

I was waiting to jump if you said beardies. Thank goodness you didn't and explained quickly why they are not. I breed beardies and we also rescue/rehab beardies and other reptiles. Some of the beardies we get from rescue are in rough shape and always was sold to someone as a beginner. So happy to see someone not list them as a beginner.

"Lizards are just snakes with 4 wheel drive".
That was excellent.

You may convince me to get a lizard down the line. I have a Savannah Monitor so he is pretty full time care, but it also means I have bugs on hand and it wouldn't be hard to throw a couple at another creature. I am used to having a lot of temp and humidity concerns. I had gotten a ball python as just an easy chill pet that I could hold and not worry much about.

Leopards and fat tails are just so smiley! I held a crested for the first time not that long ago and wow it felt really neat! I think I'd lean more towards the former though.
I have never heard of or seen web foot geckos.

My friend wants a reptile, I've been steering her towards a ball python (which she does already like) because I know she's out of town now and again, and sick sometimes, so she can't handle something that needs a lot of care. She was looking at geckos but I was reluctant to approve it since I don't have personal experience with caring for them, and I doubt she'd want to deal with insects.

Your videos have really helped me narrow down a good first pet for our 8 year old. I started at Chameleon, then went to a bearded dragon and have finally landed on the leopard gecko. Great information in all of your videos! Thanks again sir!

youre the realest reptile youtuber ive come across. No bs say it how it is especially with the sand/soil mix people just dont want to believe science that leos can pass small particles that dont bind together. I love leos and even if you arent looking for a beginner lizard, their personalities and just how chill they are, i think they suit every life style. LOVE MY 2 GIRLIES

Adam, right on. You nailed it. I guess (my bias) I would only move cresties up one position and leos down a position because- less disease issues, not necessary to always feed insects, and room temp. But great job!

Given the evolutionary history of squamates, snakes actually came from lizards that had stubby to even vestigial legs

8:45 is there something wrong with the leo's eye? Looks like a swelling of some kind. Not trying to hate or doubt care or whatever, just questioning

I want a leopard gecko. But living with my grandma she said nothing that eats bugs because we already have enough bugs loose in the house. Also has to be something that can be left a couple days for a road trip.

So, uromastyx. If I put veggies on the cool side with a cover over them, they keep for long enough. Still gonna try to talk her into agreeing to a leopard gecko too, lol. They are too cute. Shame my grandma doesn’t like reptiles. But, I don’t want her to go in a nursing home, so I take care of her and compromise on the reptiles.

Can you do something on super dwarf reticulated pythons or reticulated pythons

Josh's frogs has captive bred web footed geckos! Also I have never had a problem with repticarpet. granted ive only used it for two enclosures but still, no problems here. Another great substrate is tile or laminate flooring. it can be more expensive but lasts a long time, no bugs can get under it, and no claws getting stuck. Its also very easy to clean, just sweep it with a mini broom and wipe down with a wet papertowel and youre done!

I kept leopard geckos for years.  My last one I left in the care of my sister while working in Florida for a year.  She almost starved her to death (yes, my sister is a bitch).  I started gently feeding her again and she bounced back and lived another two years.  They are tough lizards.  Plus, they are just gorgeous.

Thank you for this. I was thinking about getting a leopard gecko for some time. I don't have much space, but I can fit a 20 gallon in, and I have Tarantulas so the feeder insects are here anyway. And it would be a handleable pet, I mean the T's are great to look at, but they are display animals not interactive ones^^.

"Just a four wheel drive snake" 😆
I am a hardcore snake lover, but my passion for reptiles began with catching Alligator Lizards and Fence Swift's in my southern California backyard, and I'm craving a lizard buddy again!

I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers! I want to get back into owning a lizard and your videos are actually super helpful, I wish I found a chanel like yours back when I got a tokay gecko off kijiji as my first lizard when I was only 8... that was definitely a mistake lol. (But at least I gave him a better home than the one he had)

Keep up the great work!
