Today I compare a 2024 Toyota Tacoma to a 2024 Ford Ranger!

I've driven both of them. I liked the Ranger better. I thought that it had better visibility and better ride.

I tried both, tacoma trd offrd and a ranger xlt sport. Both similar equipment, tacoma had slightly smoother ride with rear coil over. Ranger felt stronger, bigger interior with crew cab. Tacoma was 49978 vs 40690 with ranger. I was more impressed with the ranger and bought it. So far very pleased with it

I can’t believe I am typing this. I would choose the Ranger. I am buying a midsize truck at the end of 2024 to tow a small camper and to haul camping gear. The Tacoma’s weak payload is a deal breaker. Great vehicle, but I need a truck to perform a function, not a life style vehicle. I need 1500 lbs of payload. Plus, the Ranger is a better value.

REAR LOCKING DIFF Ranger FX4 gets one and they are available for $42000, you need to get the TRD offroad for the locker in the Toyota, the cheapest one I see available is nearly $50, 000

Definitely Ranger the 2.3 is a proven engine and is very reliable

The interior in the Tacoma looks very cheap, all the blank buttons, the screen looks like a total afterthought. That's fine if the truck was actually cheap, but it's almost $50k. The keyed ignition on the Ranger is a bit ridiculous, but the rest of it seems like a decent value.

The new ranger with the 2.7 is going to be one heck of a nice truck. I think I’ve finally decided on it. I mean the engine is reportedly doing good in the f150 and it’s quick. Can’t imagine what it’ll be able to do in the ranger while getting better mileage than the 3.0 in the ranger raptor

Overseas the Ranger gets some very nice options that i wish we'd get here in the states. Such as a 3.0l v6 turbo diesel and Platinum trim level.

Ford is beating the pants off Toyota with the new Ranger in every way globally. Ford has decided to make Australia the launch nation for the vehicle. As a result:
-- The CrewCab was launched initially BUT the SuperCab just launched in Australia and we will see it in NA
-- While Toyota only offers the 4 cylinder, Ford offers/will offer the 2.3l turbo, 2.7l TT V6, 3.0 TTV6, PHEV (launching in a few months)
-- Ford has better payload and towing and overall fuel economy
-- Toyota is priced higher and forces you into packages/trims to get better drivetrains and options
-- Ford has a better worldwide service network

Toyotas are reliable when they keep a vehicle unchanged for a decade, but the same can't be said for new vehicles with little carry-over. Toyota is already discounting the Tacoma because they simply want to maximize the profit/vehicle yet the lower trims feel cheap and bargain.

I would definitely take the Ranger. My 2021 Lariat Ranger has been a solid truck and the 2.3 turbo is very reliable. I have over 80, 000 kms on my truck without an engine issue. I think it’s just sad that my 2021 Tremor is a better truck than the new Ranger FX4. Looks like I’m keeping my 2021 Tremor until Ford offers a Tremor edition

Ford moved the shocks outboard to improve ride unloaded plus widened it 2 inches for more stability.

I ordered a 2.7 ltr V6 XLT Ranger. We will see how the Taco compares to it.

The best Toyota truck is not sold in the US, that would be the hilux… and the best version of the ranger, the diesel is also not offered in the US. Concludes with buy something else than these two crappers. Nissan frontier seems solid and I’m a long time Toyota fan, but this new truck is 🗑️

I think they drag raced the two and tacoma is slower

Interesting that tacoma feels quicker...I believe tfl drag raced the mid size trucks and ranger wins. But for everyday driving its more responsive with that low rpm torque. I'd consider the ranger but I need a 6ft bed so going with tacoma. Hard to find in trd sport

Being taco has new engine I would not buy right away better hold off to see if problems come up, even though Toyota have done better then most with new stuff not as well in recent years.
