When I completed my 5th archeology (anthropology) dig through Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah, (my early 30's) my parents came down and I broke camp (we were camped at News Paper Rock, South of Moab) and we went to Mesa Verde and We had an Amazing time.

We also went to other sites, including a few that were unnamed but smaller. We found tiny cobbs of eaten corn and a pair of sandals that were over 700 years old, A Ton of pottery shards and an Exquisite knife with a wood handle, 600-750 years old.
They're on display at Edge of the Cedars Museum/State Park.
There's even a rock carved toy of a Wagon With Wheels! Items found with it, date back over hundreds of years Before Columbus.
There are roads that are raised above the flat ground going to Mexico. It's a smallish museum Packed with Incredible stuff!
