Never thought I would get excited by physical buttons on the steering wheel! Not sure about the external design - maybe it will grow on me.

That middle screen ruins the interior for me. It looks so out of place, like a Toyota's. Should have been integrated in in the dash.

The front definitely looks less aggressive, thats what made the Tiguan desirable over its counterparts

I always liked the high precision alignment of exterior panels and minimized gaps between them, of VAG Group!!! German Precision!!!! Well done again VW! I like also some new aeshetic design details. Respect to VW and to German enginnering from a Citroen fanatic...Great presentation Thomas!!!

FWIW, I have a 2021 elegance (from new) and, with the exception of having to have the steering wheel replaced (a known VW recall fault) I've enjoyed every minute with the car.
I'll be replacing it around this time in 2024 but from what I've seen in this review it will not be with a Tiguan.
That big display in the center of the dashboard has the appearance of an afterthought that's been dropped in place at the factory gate. That size is unnecessary for anyone with average sight.
Similarly with the illuminated panels on dashboard & doors - VW listen up - if I wanted a playstation I'd buy one but I'd leave it at home. The built in display and the discreet ambient lights in my current elegance model is more tasteful... and suitable for a car that will probably retail around £38K.

The interior is nice and elegant, but the exterior is a downgrade from the MK2 (non facelift) Tiguan R-line in every single way.

Great review, Thomas. The new model looks like a nice upgrade but I wonder what we will be getting in the U.S. market. Too bad it will not be this exact version of the Tiguan. Just getting a horsepower bump on the 2.0 L engine should be welcome news for us on this side of the pond.

Really hoping Volkswagen will allow the PHEV Tiguan to be able to run a "camp mode" allowing owners to use the AC or heat while camping in the vehicle. The 20kw battery will allow the AC to run for many hours before the gas engine turns on.🎉🎉
